Last fall, our client Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the leading integrative health education and certification program, brought us in to support the marketing of their co-branded Chopra 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training program kicking off this February.

The initiative: Develop a 60-minute live webinar about the program, along with supporting marketing collateral to drive event sign-ups and post-session conversions.

We applied our usual strategy-first approach to this project and developed on-brand messaging that communicates the program’s various value propositions and creates connection with prospective students. We conceptualized an inclusive “community session” that would allow the audience to get a taste of the course format and interact with Deepak Chopra MD (official)’s world-renowned yoga teacher, Sarah Finger, along with other program representatives.

Over four weeks, we developed the script and presentation, wrote and edited the accompanying 12-email marketing campaign (plus supplemental SMS), and delivered all assets on deadline within an efficient workflow.

The results: The yoga webinar aired on December 14 and within hours, registrations for the $3,795 course were rolling in.

According to Kristen (Schultz) Dollard, the VP of Product Marketing at IIN:

“Revel brought the emotion and value of this course to the fore in a multimedia format driving registrations directly following the webinar. This work will continue to educate and inspire the audience and set a new standard for all of our product collateral.”

IIN is now iterating this work, starting with another free yoga webinar TODAY, January 25th, at at 12 pm ET/ 9 am PT.

A new McKinsey study found that marketing will be among the industries hardest hit by the evolution and integration of AI. Many marketing departments are already relying on AI to help with a lot of the stuff we do on a daily basis, including drafting and editing content for brands.

But we’re not worried.

Forbes writer Amy Shoenthal recently captured our cofounder Cristina Goyanes’ thoughts on AI in her article “How Today’s Top Marketing Leaders Are Approaching AI”:

“It’s been top of our agenda to integrate this new tool into our existing services and explore partnerships with emerging generative AI-based brands that could benefit from our customer-first approach to creating content,” Goyanes says.

“But ‘integrating’ doesn’t mean ’replacing,’” she continues.

AI may replace creators who simply churn “content” — by which we mean content that’s derivative of other stuff that exists on the internet. However AI cannot replace:

➡️ Creators with original ideas and a unique point of view
➡️ Journalists who conduct reporting with live sources
➡️ Writers who use the highest standards in research and analysis
➡️ Human conversations and personal stories that draw us into podcasts and narrative writing

If AI can replace the content you create, do better.

Though the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) is a new client for us, we were very familiar with their brand partner Deepak Chopra MD, whom we previously worked with on the The Webby Awards-winning wellness brand Sonima.

Marrying Dr. Chopra’s brand style and approach with IIN’s to support their new co-branded yoga and meditation certification programs was fun for us. But it’s still always nice to hear positive feedback from a client.

In the kind words of the GM for Chopra Products at IIN Dallas Brown,

“Revel got the brand, the nuance of our voice, and the meeting of two brand voices."

🗣️ Whether you’re looking to strike that perfect balance in brand partnerships or further develop your own brand personality, Revel can help. DM or email us at [email protected] to find out more.

It’s always nice to see an old friend’s name appear in your inbox.

In the case of Kristen (Schultz) Dollard, the VP of Product Marketing at Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), it was particularly sweet.

IIN had recently launched co-branded yoga and meditation certification programs with Chopra Global, Deepak Chopra MD (official)'s healthcare company focused on the intersection of science and spirituality.

Kristen, whom we knew well (and practiced yoga with) during our media days in NYC, needed our help with IIN’s new lead-nurturing email series to support this collaboration.

Working hand-in-hand with IIN and Chopra Global's internal teams – including Nina Zorfass, Dallas Brown, Kate Krantz (DeLuca), Jenny LaVelle, Jami Crist, Kimberly Steinkopf, and Brad Kallet – we produced a 90-day email marketing series designed to drive interest and signups for the co-branded programs. We’re excited to see this evergreen email campaign go live soon and run throughout 2024.

If you’re contemplating a nurture email series for your brand and don’t know where to start, drop us a line at [email protected] and let’s talk it through.

We’d be happy to see your name in our inbox too!

Last week, Revel cofounder Amanda Jedeikin led a Masterclass for The WIE Suite community on the topic “How to Create Brand Editorial That Resonates.”

Among the many insights she shared, here’s one we wanted to resurface.

To create content that resonates with your audience, one of the very first things you need to do is align on a clear and focused editorial mission.

Basically answer the question: What is the purpose of your brand’s content?

Seems straightforward, but this is where many lose their way.

Company leaders often assume the purpose of content is to support your brand’s marketing goals.

While KPI’s are relevant in your content strategy, they’re not your content’s “reason for being.”

Your editorial mission should focus on how your audience will benefit from your content, not what your brand is going to gain from your content program.

If you need help laying the foundation of your brand’s content program, don’t hesitate to reach out. We would love to help!

People often ask our founders how they came to form Revel, and a huge impetus was “building a career that fits the shape of our lives, not the other way around,” as cofounder Abby Lerner recently told Digiday WorkLife reporter Cloey Callahan.

This couldn’t be truer for Abby, who welcomed her firstborn six days after Revel became incorporated on June 29, 2020, making her a first-time entrepreneur and mother — arguably two of the toughest jobs on the planet — almost in the same instance.

Fast forward two years, our founders’ efforts to build a healthy work-life balance while still going after dream clients has paid off — literally. Upon Abby’s second pregnancy, she wrapped an amazing project for Babylist just days before taking Revel’s first-ever PAID maternity leave last summer.

FROM DIGIDAY: “It’s easy to mistake quiet ambition for a lack of ambition,” said Lerner. “That’s just not true at all. The desire to achieve success is still very much there, it’s just that my definition of success has changed over the years. What I value most has changed.”

Deceptive marketing practices are widespread online.

Inc. Magazine reached out to Revel for our take on what’s also called “dark patterns.” As the writer, Jennifer Conrad, describes in the article:

“Deceptive patterns are a broad category of techniques that cause customers to do something they don't want to do or that causes them harm, including stealth upsells and onerous cancellation processes. Such practices are rampant in online marketing and e-commerce.”

Revel doesn’t engage in duplicative tactics and instead advises clients on the right way to boost sales and engagement.

“Authenticity wins in the long term. Deceptive marketing practices may drive conversions in the short term but they won’t build sustainable growth nor brand loyalty,” Revel cofounder Amanda Jedeikin told Inc Magazine.

The key is to understand your brand’s value proposition and clearly communicate it to the people who need it most exactly at the moment they need to hear it.

For example, many of our clients offer a smart, science-backed solution to a health problem. Making that solution discoverable, accessible, and accurate is a win-win for both the brand and its customer base.

An example of crossing the line would be using fear-mongering tactics or a misleading offer to lure in customers. Our approach: We put ourselves in our client's customers' shoes. If anything, at any point feels sneaky, you’re not going to gain the trust that today’s discerning consumers expect from brands they love.
