I’m going to be completely honest about something nobody really tells you about writing a book.
I’ve spent months marketing and promoting LIPS.
Months creating posts, videos, graphics, reaching out, trying different platforms, talking about the story, building anticipation, and asking people to take a chance on a book written by an independent author.
And I’ve had some incredible people help me along the way. People who shared the book, supported the launch, talked about it, and helped push LIPS further than I could have done alone.
And after all of that?
Three copies sold this month.
Yes, I know three is better than zero. And I genuinely appreciate every single person who bought a copy. You have no idea what that means to an independent author.
But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t frustrated.
Because I believe LIPS is a damn good novel.
I believe the story, the characters, the pacing, the suspense and the twists deserve far more attention than they’re getting.
And honestly…
Whoever said writing a book was hard has never had to market one.
Writing is the part I love.
Marketing it day after day, month after month, trying to convince strangers to give your story a chance? That’s a completely different battle.
I’m not giving up on writing. Not even close.
But I am questioning whether putting this much time and energy into promotion is actually producing the results an independent author needs.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong.
Maybe the algorithm doesn’t care.
Maybe readers simply haven’t discovered LIPS yet.
Or maybe I just need the right people to finally take a chance on it.
So if you’re a reader who loves psychological thrillers, dark secrets, suspense, twists and stories that keep you guessing, take a look at LIPS.
Maybe you’ll be one of the readers who helps this book finally find its audience.
LIPS is out there. It just needs to be discovered.
📖 If you haven’t read it yet, search for LIPS by Carter Vale and give it a look.
And if you’ve already read it, tell me what you thought. Your review could help more than you realize.
