In a bold and historic move, Ghana will grant visa-free access to all African nationals effective May 25, 2026, marking the celebration of Africa Day.
Announced by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, this policy positions Ghana at the forefront of advancing continental unity, mobility, and economic opportunity.

Ghana continues to lead the call for a borderless Africa, building on the enduring vision of Kwame Nkrumah.

Bridging Africa and the Diaspora

Ghana recently granted citizenship to 150 members of the African diaspora in a ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre on March 9, 2026. This move is part of Ghana's efforts to reconnect with its global family and promote cultural exchange, investment, and long-term engagement with the African diaspora. ¹ ² ³

The applicants, who came from various parts of the world, underwent a rigorous vetting and review process, with approximately 3,000 applications received by the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Presidency. The ceremony was attended by Ghana's Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, government officials, and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Ghana's Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak, emphasized that the country maintains strict standards in granting citizenship, highlighting the importance of transparency, credibility, and consistency with Ghana's laws. The new citizens took an oath of allegiance, formally confirming their commitment to the Republic of Ghana.

Ghana and South Korea Strengthen Bilateral Relations
John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, today held bilateral talks with Lee Jae-myung, President of South Korea, reaffirming the strong and historic partnership between the two nations.
The meeting concluded with the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) focusing on maritime security, climate change cooperation, and digital technology, marking an important step in strengthening collaboration and development between Ghana and South Korea.

A Shift Toward Unity and Identity

It was therefore renamed Accra International Airport — a name symbolizing neutrality, national unity, and a stronger global presence.

Zambia 🇿🇲 and Ghana 🇬🇭 have signed a landmark visa waiver agreement, allowing citizens of both countries to travel without visas for the first time.

The deal was reached during President John Dramani Mahama’s state visit to Zambia.

It is expected to boost trade, tourism, investment, and people-to-people ties, strengthening African unity and cooperation.
