THE IMPACT OF BOOK REVIEW ROUNDUPS

As in-depth book reviews become increasingly rare in mainstream media, it’s important to focus on the opportunities available in round-up reviews. You can find them for fiction, self-help, business, and other genres. Especially exciting was our own Andrea J. Stein's BuzzFeed interview in which she shared her recommendations for cozy fall reads, starting with her most recent novel, DEAR ELIZA. Read her recommendations at the link below.

NPR LISTENERS LOVE BOOKS

We are huge fans of NPR and are delighted when our clients are interviewed on their shows. We recently worked with Jesse King, host of 51 Percent, produced by Albany’s WAMC Northeast Public Radio and airing nationally, Jesse interviewed our client, Joelle Kaufman, about her book, CRUSHING THE CANCER CURVEBALL. After helping both her mother and sister battle breast cancer, Joelle voluntarily sought a mastectomy in 2023 — only to be diagnosed with cancer the day before her surgery. We knew this would be a perfect fit for 51 Percent, which is dedicated to women’s perspectives on a host of topics. Here’s a link to the episode.

On this week’s 51%, we speak with author Joelle Kaufman about her new book Crushing the Cancer Curveball. After helping both her mother and sister battle breast cancer, Kaufman voluntarily sought a mastectomy in 2023 — only to be diagnosed with cancer the day before her surgery. Part memoir, par...

Although obtaining national media coverage is always our goal, we also focus on the local media for our clients. Depending on the market, this might include morning television shows, local newspapers, and community magazines. When we worked with Jeffrey Dunn, author of WHISKEY REBEL, 509 Digital Lifestyle Magazine featured him on their cover. Great article. Wonderful photographs. You can check it out at the link below.

One of the biggest buzzwords in PR and marketing these days is “content placement.” But with so many people vying to place content in the most sought after media outlets, crafting the right pitch, and then the right piece, is critical. When we were working with Doug Hall, author of PROACTIVE PROBLEM SOLVING, we knew his expertise was perfect for IndustryWeek. We worked with Doug and the editor to find just the right story for them: a bourbon bottle mystery. Read the final piece at the link below.

SECURING MEANINGFUL ALUMNI COVERAGE

Coverage in alumni publications is no longer a given, especially for graduates of large, prestigious institutions. When we were working with Tinsley Galyean to promote his book, REFRAME, we were delighted to arrange for this terrific profile in MIT’s alumni newsletter, Slice of MIT.

LONGSTANDING MEDIA PARTNERSHIPS DRIVE MEANINGFUL COVERAGE

Our longstanding relationships with the media are our bread and butter. For example, we have worked with Skip Prichard for years. His insights on leadership and business lead to wonderful Q&As on his blog. Our authors enjoy answering his thoughtful questions, and his readers are always looking for the best business book to turn to next. Here’s a link to an interview Skip recently did with our client, Mike Peterson, author of LEADING IN THE AGE OF DIGITAL DISRUPTION.

Practical strategies for digital leadership in hybrid workplaces from Leading in the Age of Digital Disruption by Mike Peterson. Build trust, lead change.

TURNING AUTHORS INTO GO-TO EXPERTS
SUPPORTING THEIR THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

Positioning the authors we represent as experts in their fields is a huge part of what we do every day. Earlier this year, we arranged for Tinsley Galyean, author of REFRAME, to talk to the iconic nonprofit sector magazine, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, about artificial intelligence as an increasingly important tool for skilled grant seekers. In the article linked below, Tinsley explains why he thinks of AI as a “digital intern." Connecting our clients to key media outlets in their fields extends the impact of our campaigns far into the future.

Use the newest smart tools to discover new funders, write stronger proposals, and improve grant-seeking efficiency.
