With Fashion Mingle, students experience New York Fashion Week from the inside. During the NYFW Experience, students attend mentor sessions with fashion professionals and join a luxury fashion tour through Fifth and Madison Avenue, studying how brands create retail experiences and brand identity. They also visit fashion destinations such as the FIT Museum, Dover Street Market, and the Ralph Lauren flagship, as well as the Garment District.

Backstage access is a key part of the program, where they can assist with dressing models, styling garments, and preparing runway shows, while also experiencing presentations from the audience side. The programs end with students presenting concept collections and digital mood boards and receiving feedback from industry mentors.

The Autumn/Winter 2026 collection from LABRUM LONDON includes several textile designs that reference travel and cultural history. The collection, titled Threads of Osmosis, introduces an updated passport print that features new stamp graphics and symbols linked to movement between countries. This pattern appears on Japanese indigo denim where the design is applied using laser etching. The process places the travel-inspired graphics directly onto the textile surface.

Another design used in the collection is the Freetown print, which shows scenes connected to Freetown. This motif appears on wool outerwear through appliqué and hand embroidery. These techniques place the printed images onto the garments while adding texture and structure to the fabric surface.

The Threads of Sustainability event at Asia Society New York showed that fashion can empower communities and preserve culture.

Panel discussions with experts like Carmen Artigas, Sandy Dalal, and Ajay Shrivastav highlighted how sustainability isn’t just about materials but also about fair labor, health, and dignity for artisans. On the runway, Gingerblu presented its collection alongside global designers’ creations, all incorporating hand-crafted Indian techniques, natural fibers, and low-impact dyes.

Artisan communities are central to fashion. By training women, redefining workplace structures, and integrating skilled labor into global supply chains, the Fempowerment Foundation offers a model that is sustainable and economically viable.

Brands, designers, and organizations looking to collaborate, feature sustainable collections, or connect with artisan-driven projects, join Fashion Mingle and bring these models into your work. Link in bio.

Fashion Mingle continues to help designers build strong careers in the fashion industry. The Fashion Mingle team is dedicated to connecting designers with mentors who share advice about sourcing, production, and business growth.

At Texworld New York City, mentors including Maria Barraza of Brooklyn Fashion Incubator, fashion consultant Christine Daal of Fashion Angel Warrior, designer and sourcing expert Christy Hutchins of CZH Consulting, and CFDA member Regina Kravitzhave helped guide designers through the sourcing floor.

These conversations give designers a chance to ask questions and learn how to find fabrics, work with manufacturers, and build a successful fashion brand.

Fashion Mingle has a proven track record of bridging the gap between international textile innovation and the American market. A primary example of this impact was our collaboration with the Consulate General of India and Gingerblu, where we facilitated a high-level forum and dinner in New York City. This convening brought together retail buyers from major American brands and senior representatives from India’s textile sector to deepen exchange around sourcing, innovation, and global collaboration.

The dialogue featured a distinguished panel led by Ms. Rachna Shah, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, alongside industry leaders like Ajay Shrivastav, founder of Gingerblu and Fempowerment Foundation. This session successfully connected institutional strategy with real-world industry perspectives, setting a benchmark for how we facilitate cross-border trade.

Today, we continue to build these frameworks through our Global Artisan Initiative and in partnership with the United Nations Fashion & Lifestyle Network.

As part of our New York Fashion Week programming, Fashion Mingle offers an immersive experience designed for international fashion students, which extends learning beyond the runway and into the broader industry.

Fashion design students from Siglo21 University in Argentina joined an immersive experience that went far beyond runway shows. Students began with a luncheon and workshop, where industry professionals Andrea Reyes from NYC Fair Trade Coalition, costume designer Deborah Cantor, industry veteran Susanna Moyer, Britta Cabanos from Inside Fashion Design and Jude Kingston from Mind Your Fashion shared insights on sustainability, mental health, and what to expect during Fashion Week.

The experience included hands‑on backstage work with designer like Michael DePaulo and tours of Mood Designer Fabrics and New York Embroidery Studio

Students explored elite fashion houses and flagship stores like Dior, Chanel, and Dover Street Market, and they also visited the Barbie Exhibit to learn about the brand’s influence on global fashion trends. All of this helped them make industry connections and prepare for their future in fashion.

If ethical fashion is the future, how do you scale it without losing the people behind it? This is where the work begins.

Fashion Mingle is proud to host through our partnership with the , a Chilean entrepreneur and founder working at the intersection of design, artisan collaboration, and fair trade. Through her brand, she partners directly with small textile workshops to co-create knitwear that is both commercially viable and rooted in craftsmanship. .tienda

Her mission is to return textile work to artisans, create opportunity in underserved regions, and position Chilean textiles in global markets.

Through the YLAI Fellowship, Rocío is focused on what many founders struggle with:
— Expanding into new markets
— Building distribution for small-scale production
— Using digital tools to scale impact responsibly

At Fashion Mingle, we’re actively engaging in this process. Rocío brings a rare combination of creative direction, operational thinking, and social impact leadership, contributing fresh perspective to our community while strengthening her own global growth strategy.

More to come!

Effective fashion entrepreneurship requires a connection to meaningful, impact-driven initiatives. The upcoming International Spring Bazaar at the United Nations Headquarters demonstrates how Fashion Mingle leverages global partnerships to elevate brands that value craftsmanship and community. Through our collaboration with the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG), we participate in a mission that extends beyond retail, as the UNWG directs funds to essential programs for children in underserved communities worldwide.

For the designers curated by Fashion Mingle for this event, the value lies in firsthand insight into sustainable retail practices and global consumer engagement. This initiative highlights our focus on:

- Cultural Stewardship: Supporting brands that mentor and promote underrepresented artisanal heritage.
- Purpose-Driven Networking: Connecting mission-aligned vendors with buyers and international representatives at the UN Headquarters.
- Sustainable Enterprise: Providing a platform for environmentally conscious goods to be presented in a setting that celebrates global unity.

Fashion Mingle’s mission is to strengthen the fashion industry by creating these professional intersections. We continue to develop programming and partnerships that allow our members to expand their brand visibility beyond traditional retail spaces and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable fashion ecosystem.
