Watermelon Social

Watermelon Social Personal Branding and Content Marketing How businesses brand and sell to other businesses has undergone significant change with the growth of social media.

The first meeting is now not a meeting at all, but a prospect looking at a company's leadership or sales team on LinkedIn and other social media platforms. Personal branding may be the decider for further contact. Posts and email outreach to engaged professional networks encourage added contact and are rapidly making business growth personal. Watermelon Social was founded to leverage this change.

What's Your Origin Story?

We all have stories to tell. It's how we make and nurture connections, and build our personal brands. Here's my story in less than 300 words.

George Stephan’s story begins with an instinct for connection — seeing how people, ideas, and brands could come together to create something larger than themselves. After advertising management roles at BBDO, FCB and Publicis, George built a reputation for turning ideas into business momentum.

He founded Stephan Partners, a branding and digital marketing agency known for its imaginative problem-solving and promise-based branding — helping businesses grow not just by selling, but by building trust and emotional connection.

That success evolved into Watermelon Social | Personal Branding and Content Marketing, an agency built around the idea that social media is a platform for thought leadership that strengthens real relationships between leaders, brands and their audiences.

His next venture, Golf Brands Group | Branding and Digital Marketing, brought his expertise into one of his lifelong passions: golf. Here, he helps golf businesses, PGA professionals, and clubs build their brands in ways that grow both revenue and reputation.

George’s work extends beyond business. He’s been a three time mentor and supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Westchester & Putnam, and has contributed his branding expertise to nonprofit and community initiatives through the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) and Golf Like a Girl, which helps women and young girls get into the game.

Across all these ventures, George has remained a pattern-spotter — someone who sees opportunity in overlooked spaces. His partners and clients describe him as imaginative, resourceful, and visionary — quick to find niches and create ideas that move people and markets.

Today, he leads teams that build brands that feel human and connected — helping others define not just what they do, but why it matters.

Golf + Mentoring = A Lifetime Bond!
This is Caiden, my little brother at Big Brothers Big Sisters of America right after our first practice with his new clubs.
He hit them well, just needs some putting work (like me).
He now practices with me every week at our local club and is getting very good.
I'm so proud of him!
I'm looking forward to getting him out for many rounds.
Golf is something we can do together for a lifetime.
It takes little to be big, so please donate to BBBS today: https://secured.bbbs.org/page/145038/donate/1
Thank you!

People see more than 4,000 search ads per day.
How can you break through this clutter?

If you’re a local advertiser, you’re up against tons of search ads competing for attention. How can you get your targets to stop, look, listen and click – and then convert to sales?

Do you say, “Okay, we’ll use AI”?

While AI is a great tool, it’s effective only if it executes a great idea. Let’s say you run a local pest-control company. How do make a breakthrough search ad?

We start with great creative then use AI to turn it into a sticky video. The workflow is like a film shoot. First, we break the script into scenes and shots. Then we use AI prompts to make each shot: the style, setting, characters, camera moves and more. We also use conventional film techniques: editing the AI shots together, adding music, creating sound effects and narration.

It takes skill and experience to make this “What Bug Bugs Me” video: AI skills, film-making skills and idea-creation skills...to break through clutter and get results.

Yes, AI is great. Add great creative to make it work harder for you. And, before you go, meet some people and the bugs that bug them in this video.

Another TV commercial for a pest-control company. Because videotaping real insects where you want to see them (for example: bedbugs in a bed, ants in a kitchen)…

WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE GREAT CREATIVE?

I just got back from Kingston, NY, a great port city on the Hudson known for brick making and lots of other things shipped to NYC and Albany. I found a great custom print shop called THE DEPARTMENT OF THINGS. Inside, I discovered the wonderful witty artwork of David Shrigley, a British visual artist. This card reminded me of what I love about the business.
Great creative!
With all the tech and AI it seems like great creative is getting lost.
Let's bring it back!
This is the fourth in a series from David Shrigley.
(We're open 24/7, 365 BTW)
Happy September!

Why AI Needs Great Creative
Meet Drago the Dragon

The first challenge facing any communicator is “How do we cut through clutter and get peoples’ attention?” The answer is not as simple as “We’ll use AI.”

While AI is a great tool, it’s effective only if it executes a great idea. Let’s say Accenture wants a video about its unique “problem-solving” skills. How do we make it visual and memorable? Maybe borrow from a cultural phenomenon that millions of xpeople already have paid attention to: Game of Thrones.

Start with "Drago" the dragon who has a problem! How do we use AI to make a sticky video? The workflow is similar to a film shoot. First, we break script own into scenes and shots.

AI is next. We write prompts to make each shot: the style, setting, characters, camera moves and more. But AI doesn’t do everything. We also use conventional film techniques: editing the AI shots together, adding music, creating sound effects and narration.

It takes skill and experience to make this video: AI skills, film-making skills and idea-creation skills...to break through clutter and get results. Yes, AI is great. Add great creative to make it work harder for you.

And, before you go, meet Drago and friend, our medieval problem solvers.

A slightly "out there" imagined training program from medieval imes.

Experience the Beat Burke Culinary Competition

⛳ Golf Brands Group is proud to partner with celebrity chef Chef David Burke and Diana DeLucia, founder of Golf Kitchen Magazine, to bring Beat Burke to private golf club members and their guests.

⛳ Fun, interactive and delicious, Beat Burke is a singular dining event based on the international award-winning chef David Burke’s experiences on Iron Chef, Top Chef and Top Chef Masters blended with the long popular “dinner-and-show" format.

⛳ It's a friendly competition between David Burke and the club's Executive Chef preparing two dishes in front of a room full of diners. While watching the chefs come up with their spur-of-the-moment creations, the diners savor a two-course dinner. Diana DeLucia and two club members will judge the event.

⛳ David Burke is one of the best known and most respected chefs in modern American cuisine. He brings his signature whimsical dishes and boundlessly creative approach to this fantastic member experience.

⛳ We are booking iconic golf clubs in the NY Metro market, South Florida and in the Mid-west beginning this Fall.

⛳ For more information, contact George Stephan or Diana DeLucia at Golf Kitchen

Bon Appetit!
