So many little details and plans to get too still but man-oh-man… I like the way this retired truck has come together in the past couple of months.

Things are coming together nicely on the truck. It’s been a blending balance of modern and period correct elements. I don’t want to take away from the Forest Service lineage and vibe but rather just enhance or beef it up a bit to fit what I’ll be using the truck for better. Still a few things I want to dial in though before I take off for the (this Friday and Saturday). I’ll be hanging out in the booth. If you’re in the area, swing by and say hi 👋🏼.

We’ve had horses for many years now but this one is actually a first for me. He’s MY horse! Not the wife’s. Not the kids. MINE.

A Drum horse. Gypsy Vanner & Shire cross. Registered as “One Heck of an American”. His barn name has been Patriot, which is bad ass of course, but I couldn’t help but think of my Grandpa when we got him home who was a cowboy in days past and even owned a western store in Oregon called Tac & Togs. My Gramps, who was also a Marine, nicknamed me Tank when I was born because I was a chunky 9lbs 11oz. I don’t know if he ever actually called me anything else.

I was really hoping to focus on the this summer but the Forest Service Truck took its place in line. Winter project now but I am really looking forward to having this one engine swapped with a few horses and back on the road. It’s been waiting for far too long 🤦🏻‍♂️ I do think I might start getting serious about collecting the parts needed though 😎
