As the Summer season approaches, we would love to highlight our new Assistant Producer, Summer Ward, to DeVito/Verdi

Summer is coming to us from L.A., and we are super excited to have her join the team!

“I’m excited to be joining the team as an assistant producer. Coming from an on-set film background, it’s been great to see the other side of video creation, where the decisions are made from concept to final edit. I’m looking forward to helping execute the vision of our creative team.”

What changes when you go from briefing the work to building it?

Matt Bartoloni, our Senior Managing Account Director, has sat on both sides. His latest POV via MM+M - Medical Marketing and Media, calls out some of the biggest misconceptions marketers have about how great work actually happens.

Today feels like the right day to talk about one of our favorite ideas.

When DeVito/Verdi and Legal Sea Foods looked at a cultural moment and saw something hiding in plain sight.

Massachusetts had legalized cannabis.
And the brand’s name was… Legal.

That was it. That was the idea.

“Welcome to Legal” became a fully integrated campaign that leaned into culture—not cautiously, but confidently—using humor, timing (yes, 4:20), and just the right amount of irreverence to invite a whole new audience in.

TV, social, OOH, guerrilla activations—even chowder served outside dispensaries. All built on a simple truth: when an idea is obvious and brave enough, it travels.

Happy 4/20.

Often, an agency’s best work results from having a client who is brave. Typically, it’s the ones who started the business or remain independent who are willing to take creative chances. The best work requires agencies to go to a place that’s not expected, and we’ve found that founders and independent-thinking leaders are more capable to consume something unexpected.

“Before behavior changes, people need to feel something.”

Great creative works when the insight and idea come first.

What is your creative process?

Our creative team has always operated in a competitive environment. Where multiple teams produce creative work on the same account.

The projects that stand out, the campaigns that spark conversations—they’ve got that edge because the work reflects this refined creative process.

It’s not just about having ideas, but elevating the process that nurtures them. When you refine your process, the best work rises to the top.

In the midst of one of the biggest controversies around antisemitism on campuses in the country we supported Brandeis University with a campaign that promoted their views on the subject and higher education. We are typically chosen to take on some of the most sensitive topics in all areas.
