Like many of you, we at Matter are outraged by the SCOTUS decision to end federal protection of reproductive healthcare.

Our hearts break for the single mom in West Virginia whose forced birth will drive her family further into poverty; the Black woman in Texas statistically 3x likelier to die in childbirth than her white counterparts; the middle schooler in Idaho whose firstborn brings no joy, just abject trauma from the night she was r***d.

The majority of Americans are against overturning Roe v Wade, and the rippled outcomes that will deepen our country’s already shameful inequities. But five people in a room made it so. As a result, we commit to the fight for reproductive justice for all: every income level, every race, every age, and in every state in America.

We will not resign. We’ll get to work.

We’re excited to share our latest launch, the new brand identity for and entirely redesigned website introducing their expanded mission as an organization.

Formerly Interfaith Youth Core, Interfaith America inspires, equips, and connects leaders and institutions to unlock the potential of America’s religious diversity. They were looking for a new brand identity that could speak to their many audiences across sectors and express their position as the leading interfaith organization that builds from faith as a bridge that connects us.

From UX strategy and website design, to a full suite of brand identity assets, we supported Interfaith America in their re-introduction to the world.

We’re excited to announce the launch of the all-new rhiaventures.org site!

Rhia Ventures () is a social impact investment firm on a mission to develop a vibrant and equitable market for sexual, reproductive, and maternal health.

We were able to completely redesign and develop their website, using photography to bring warmth and depth to their visual aesthetic, and improving the user experience via more intuitive navigation and information architecture. We are honored to collaborate with them and proud to support their ongoing mission to advance reproductive justice.

New York-based artist and educator Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya () calls the portrait which covers this week’s issue of TIME “With Softness and Power.”

The image “reflects the immeasurable strength of Asian American women who are the connective tissue of our communities, yet too often overlooked, fetishized, dehumanized and underestimated.” Phingbodhipakkiya tells . “My hope is to see the beauty of our people reflected in the colors of our communities in a dignified and respectful way.”

We, at Matter, are proud to see Amanda's work gracing the TIME cover, exemplifying the resilience and strength of the Asian American community. Our hearts are with all who are mourning, hurting, and processing however needed this week.

Thank you Amanda. Looking forward to our collaborating again with you soon.

International Mother Language Day recognizes that languages and multilingualism can advance inclusion, and the Sustainable Development Goals’ focus on leaving no one behind. UNESCO believes education, based on the first language or 'mother tongue' must begin from the early years, as early childhood care and education is the foundation of learning.

The idea to recognize was the initiative of Bangladesh, where February 21st is commemorated annually in tribute to those martyred for the in 1952.

"The theme of the Day this year, 'Fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society', thus encourages us to support multilingualism and the use of mother tongues, both at school and in everyday life. This is essential, because when 40% of the world's inhabitants do not have access to education in the language they speak or understand best, it hinders their learning, as well as their access to heritage and cultural expressions. This year, special attention is being paid to multilingual education from early childhood, so that for children, their mother tongue is always an asset."

— Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO

We couldn't close out the week without congratulating our Design Director, Frank William Miller Jr. on his Art Direction consulting work for the documentary film , which took home both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize at Film Festival this week!

We are also happy to learn that Summer of Soul (...Or When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) has been officially acquired by Hulu and Searchlight Pictures 🥳🙌🏾

The directorial debut of Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson founding member of The Roots, Summer of Soul is a music documentary centered on the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, retrospectively referred to as the forgotten "Black Woodstock." The film features newly unearthed and unseen footage of performances by Mahalia Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, and The 5th Dimension, among many others.

Moments captured in time from our nation's capital–how far we've come and how much farther, still, we've yet to go.

Today and all days, we salute the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. which continues to inspire hope and inspire the best in us. Now more than ever, we are being called to move forward in our purpose and stand firm against injustice, wherever and however it shows up in the world.

We are proud to have worked with our partners Merck for Mothers to launch their 2020 research compendium, which brings together 117 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and reports from dozens of their collaborators. The compendium is dedicated to quality of care and shares key findings to better understand women’s experiences, equip healthcare providers, and strengthen health systems around the world.
