This house knows exactly where it came from and exactly who it's for.
In the heart of San Francisco's Mission District, House Social by began as a 19th-century Italian grocery that hosted ice cream socials for a community church, then took on a second life as an artist's studio and residence. By the time the current owners arrived, it was a wonderful, ramshackle, colorful mess, and it took a particular kind of client to see that as the starting point rather than the problem.
The directive: keep what made it extraordinary, fix everything that needed fixing, and build a home for a family that actually wants to be together.
