I was recently interviewed on the SCN podcast Dentistry Speaks with Kevin Henry, and I was asked about my motivation for writing the Culture Catalyst.

It’s an interesting question because I have been such a staunch believer in the power of culture in healthcare organizations for a long time now, and I’ve been preaching it in my work.

The idea of writing down “the basics” in a book form really came to me and my co-author, Tiffany, because we wanted something that was going to be easy to reach for when in doubt.

Culture is really at the foundation of creating a thriving practice. Without it, everything else crumbles.

Similarly, if you are not paying attention or intentionally creating the culture in your workplace, it will default to a culture that is potentially toxic and stops your practice from thriving.

It’s the starting off point for so many problems, and when culture is fixed…some of the problems that follow such as toxicity in the workplace, gossip, low-retention, etc. follow suit.

If you want to talk through any of the four pillars I mentioned, or learn more about my work and the programs I have, don’t hesitate to reach out.

I had another busy and wonderful week last week doing what I love!

I spent two nights with the Piedmont Comprehensive Dental Seminars—one group in Belmont, the other in Shelby—and I’m always reminded how powerful it is to be in a room full of people who want to do better for their teams and their patients.

We focused on something that sounds simple, but is often the hardest to actually execute: culture.

When I say culture, I’m talking about the version that shows up in conversations, expectations, accountability, and day-to-day behaviors.

Across both nights, we dug into:
• Creating clear expectations and accountability that people can actually follow
• Aligning leadership behaviors with the results you say you want
• Building real psychological safety while still holding a high standard

My goal was simple… that everyone in the room could walk in on Monday morning and do one thing differently.

And based on the feedback, that landed:
“Empowering.”
“Thought provoking.”
“Important, needed, reflective.”
“Great insight into creating an overall vision for the practice.”
“Absolutely a must-see experience.”

Thank you to both study clubs for the opportunity to be part of your growth. I don’t take that lightly.

What an incredible experience at the Champions Council meeting with AdvoCare!

We talked about something every leader is feeling right now… how to ride the wave of change in a world that’s moving faster than ever because of technology.

And here’s the truth:

Change isn’t slowing down.

AI isn’t going anywhere.

The question is… how are you showing up in it?

Because the leaders who stand out right now aren’t the ones trying to control the wave. They’re the ones who know how to move with it.

In this keynote, we focused on what that actually looks like:

• Staying grounded in human intelligence when everything feels automated

• Leading with clarity and intention, not reaction

• Building a growth mindset that doesn’t break under pressure

• Creating cultures where people can adapt, perform, and thrive

So many powerful conversations, honest reflections, and moments where you could feel the shift happening in real time.

Grateful to the AdvoCare team and every leader in that room who showed up ready to do the work.

If your organization is navigating change, growth, or leadership challenges right now… this is the conversation we need to be having.

Still riding a high from Friday in Charlotte!

I had the opportunity to lead a 2.5-hour workshop at the Carolina Collaborative Study Club (Dr. Riddhi Patel’s Study Club) on something I believe a lot of practices are craving right now: Predictable Growth.

Because what I continue to see (across organizations of all sizes) is this:
Growth is happening… but it feels inconsistent, reactive, and harder than it needs to be.

We focused on a few key shifts:
• Focusing on the metrics that actually drive results (not just the ones that are easy to track)
• Using data as a leadership tool to guide, coach, and create clarity, not to criticize
• Translating big goals into daily, repeatable behaviors that teams can actually execute

And one of the things I care most about in this work…No two rooms are the same.

Every program I lead is customized to the specific challenges, goals, and dynamics of the group in front of me, which is what makes conversations like this one so impactful.

The feedback from this group really said it all:
“Thought provoking.”
“Very knowledgeable, engaging, and interactive… definitely learned new things to apply in my practice.”
“Packed full of actionable items to improve practice flow.”
“Foundations you need to elevate the business of your practice.”

Grateful for a group that showed up fully, engaged deeply, and made it such a powerful conversation, and the opportunity to do this job!

I’ve been reflecting on the past few days in Lake Tahoe—especially the opportunity to deliver my keynote for AdvoCare—and I’m still taking it all in. What an incredible experience.

Moments like this deepen my gratitude for the work I get to do: the people I meet, the conversations we share, and the real impact these experiences can have.

I’ve poured my heart into speaking on leadership, human intelligence, and emotional regulation. Leaning into vulnerability in those spaces has opened the door to some truly powerful, authentic human connections—moments I won’t forget.

This experience also brought a renewed sense of clarity around what’s next… including the start of another book. More to come on that soon.

Thank you, AdvoCare, for such a meaningful and memorable week.

Last night was absolutely amazing. The AdvoCare team invited me to have dinner with them at Garwood‘s on the lake. It was so lovely getting to spend time with all of the top distributors and learning more about their passion for the products this company sells. They have such passion!

I’m so excited to get on stage this morning!

I’m so excited to deliver my keynote for AdvoCare tomorrow morning! I’ll be speaking on how we “Ride the Wave” of Change using my 6 step process and what high performing leaders do differently. Happiness is an inside job first. Stay tuned for more details! First stop: Phoenix then I’m off to Reno.

So excited!

This is some common advice I give to independent practice owners that I work with. One thing every independent practice owner must do—especially if you want to stay independent—is know your numbers.

Not just revenue, but what’s actually driving (or draining) your business month to month.

That’s why I’m such a believer in working with a fractional CFO who can review your numbers monthly, run variance analyses, and help you plan cash intentionally for the future.

Confidence in leadership comes from clarity. Clarity starts with the numbers.

There’s a difference between knowing what to do… and actually doing it.

I just finished “No Excuses for a Day: The One-Day Challenge That Will Transform Your Life, Relationships, and Organizations” by , and it’s one of those books that doesn’t let you hide behind good intentions.

The premise is simple: go one full day without making a single excuse.

Not out loud. Not internally. Not even the subtle ones that sound justified.

What I appreciated most is that it’s not about perfection—it’s about awareness. You start to realize how often we explain instead of take ownership… and how that quietly keeps us stuck.

If you care about leadership, growth, or building a culture of accountability, this is a powerful reset.

Buy and read the book, and take on the challenge of no excuses for a day. That’s when things really start to shift!

5/5 stars!

I’m going to say something that might feel a little uncomfortable.

If you’re waiting for someone else to fix the culture in your organization, it’s probably not going to happen.

Culture doesn’t shift because a memo goes out or because leadership talks about it in a meeting.

It doesn’t change because HR rolls out a new initiative. Real culture change happens when someone decides to take ownership of it.

And often, that someone isn’t the person with the most authority. It’s the person with the most courage.

The leader who chooses to model clarity. The one who’s willing to have the hard conversations.
The one who raises the standard instead of quietly participating in dysfunction.

That’s where culture begins to shift.

In healthcare especially, we don’t have the luxury of waiting for things to “eventually improve.” The stakes are too high for our teams, for our retention, and for our patients. Ambiguity costs us. Silence costs us. Misalignment costs us.

At some point, you have to decide you’re done tolerating it.

That’s why I co-wrote “The Culture Catalyst” with Tiffany. Not so much as a motivational book, but as a practical roadmap for leaders who are ready to stop talking about culture and start shaping it.

Leaders who understand that change doesn’t start with a department, it starts with a decision.

You don’t need permission to elevate your organization.
You need ownership.

And sometimes, you need to be the catalyst.

Filmed this right before I stepped in to speak to the last night… and I had no idea just how wonderful the evening would be!
What unfolded was a room full of engaged, thoughtful clinicians who were ready to reflect, challenge themselves, and lead differently.
I spoke on my Lead From Within framework, which is designed to help clinicians strengthen leadership and emotional intelligence in their practice. Because in a world that’s becoming more automated and AI-driven, the real differentiator isn’t more systems…
It’s Human Intelligence. Its presence. It’s self-awareness.It’s how you lead when things feel uncertain, emotional, or high-stakes.
Last night was a reminder that this work matters, and that teams are hungry for it.

And I’ll be honest, getting on stage left me feeling incredibly invigorated and fired up. It reminded me exactly why I love this work.

If you’re leading a healthcare organization and know your team is capable of more, but something isn’t quite clicking, it may be a leadership and culture opportunity.
Now booking speaking engagements for Fall and into 2027. Let’s bring this conversation to your team!
