Last week, I had the opportunity to speak with NYC public school students on one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. I chose the third goal, which focuses on wellbeing for all, specifically focusing on emotional health. I spoke about this topic with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, delivering the same presentation three times.
Ā
I was genuinely surprised by the insights and conversations that arose in the classroom. I asked them why they think people don’t talk about emotional health as much as physical health, and an 11-year-old boy said, ā€œSometimes we don’t talk about emotional health because our friends will start seeing us differently, and we don’t want that.ā€
Ā
And I had an Indian girl in the class who was extremely happy to see me, and we talked after the session. I asked how her experience was, and she said, ā€œI don’t have many people to talk to, but I am brave enough to handle it.ā€ I really didn’t know what to say to her, but I really wanted to hug her.

Something did change in me after spending a day with these beautiful and really smart kids.

Overall, addressing such a challenging topic with an audience I couldn’t entirely relate to due to cultural differences proved to be rewarding. As they say, ā€œemotions are the universal language that connects us all,ā€ and this sentiment couldn’t have rung truer in those classrooms.

We got to be a lot kinder if we want a better world for ourselves or that future generations. ā£ļø

Last month, I had the opportunity to watch NYU School of Professional Studies interview Dr. Makaziwe Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s eldest living daughter, and her daughter Tukwini Mandela last month.

There were a ton of amazing informational nuggets provided, but below are a few that particularly caught my attention:

- Everybody possesses the abilities to lead, and we all possess the attributes of Nelson Mandela. Makaziwe Mandela
- Without being willing to have conversations and actually listen to one another, we will never be able to build lasting peace and a sustainable future for ourselves. That’s what my dad always said. You’ll discover that we all share the same goals and that we have a lot in common.
- The first steps towards changing the world are little deeds. Activism and acts of kindness start at home. That’s how a strong community may be maintained and expanded.
- If you’re angry and bitter you won’t be able to achieve. Get into a dialogue with your enemies. Be clear about what you want in life and forgive the past. When you stay angry and bitter you only hurt yourself - Dr. Makaziwe Mandela
- You have to get rid of looking at people as different from you. - Tukwini Mandela
- Self awareness is how you become a better human and eventually a better human - Tukwini Mandela.

- My grandfather didn’t see him as an icon and would often say we don’t reach glorious heights alone, there are always people who help us along the way. - Tukwini Mandela

- Building a better future is not about either or , it’s about how we work together, how to use each other’s strength to build a better world. - Tukwini Mandela on gender equality

Today marks 3 months since I left India for New York. The dream only my copy of The Yellow Journal knew about. If I was to summarise my journey in 2 words it would be ā€œGRATEFULā€ and ā€œGUIDEDā€. I Choosing which one to put first is like trying to untangle a loop because, in essence, they are intertwined.

A few nights ago, I was with some friends from my cohort, and I told them how I feel that I am guided, even though I am figuring out so much of life together. There is not one area of my life that hasn’t been disrupted, but there is a flow that’s not entirely mine but happening to me. You feel what I mean?

I had heard people talk about how leaving your country will change you. For me, I’m becoming more spiritually aligned, as if the power above is better able to guide me here.
Some people credit my positivity, but I credit my ability to be grateful. It’s the only prayer I know that attracts more abundance.

The dream I'm living all started with me penning it down in the Yellow Journal. My older copy has this dream on my MY BIG DREAM page, keeping me accountable to take the necessary steps to achieve it. It has not only been my accountability partner but also my guide on paper, my safe space, my reminder to always be grateful and kinder. If you're on a journey to transform yourself or become a better, kinder, and more self-assured version of you, grab your journal from our website. If you have any questions about the journal, feel free to drop them here :)

🌟Embracing the Messiness 🌟

"Trust the process, Rhythm" has been my guiding mantra ever since I moved to the USA. The city and its people have shown me incredible kindness, but I haven't been able to show up as I would have liked. There is nothing wrong or sad, just something different for sure. Some days feel like I'm on a long (and very expensive) vacation, others feel like an ego strip, and some feel like a race against time.

I believe age is just a number, but I also wonder how it would be if I were 20, or maybe if I had made different choices in the past. No regrets whatsoever, just thoughts and reflections.

I arrived in the USA way before I physically set foot here through my coaching clients and through The Yellow Journal and therefore, this sometimes feels like homework - fully immersing myself in the experience of leaving my country, my people, and my identity to pursue my wildest desires and emerging stronger.

The purpose of these open reflections is to help anyone on a similar journey of significant change. I hope you are validating your own emotions and embracing the messiness. Just like me, I hope you keep reminding yourself that everyone's path is unique, and it's okay to have mixed feelings. Trusting the process and staying true to your own rhythm is the only way to navigate through these experiences. 🌟

Hello hello, my beautiful people! šŸ‘‹

It's been a while, and I've truly missed connecting with you all. Since my move to the city of my dreams, life has been a whirlwind of new experiences and deep reflections.

I've noticed your messages asking me to create content, and I want you to know that I miss creating the kind of content I did. But, to be honest, I don’t know if I can do that anymore, at least not right now. I'm in the midst of my own transformation, and that means leaving behind the old me. There's so much for me to learn here.

But you know what? I've always promised to with my community, and that promise still stands. So, I'm going to take you along on this journey as I navigate life in this incredible city and share the invaluable lessons I've picked up along the way.

I'm sure you'll appreciate these lessons as well, even if it's not the kind of content you're used to on this page. Thank you for your understanding, support and the love šŸ’•

Changing yourself on the inside is the only way to lead changes on the outside. Here’s

Here is how you can start:

* Self-Awareness: Start by understanding your values, beliefs, and motivations. Self-reflection and introspection can help you identify areas where you want to change.
* Set Intentional Goals: when setting goals, be clear on why you want to achieve it.

* Positive Mindset: Cultivate a positive mindset. Believing in your ability to change is crucial.

* Self compassion: You have to be kind to yourself and say words of encouragement to you own self.

* Continuous Learning: Be open to learning and growing. Read, attend workshops, or have meaningful conversations.

* Surround Yourself Positively: Your environment and the people you spend time with can influence your behavior. Surround yourself with supportive, like-minded individuals who encourage your personal growth.

* Take Action: Ultimately, change on the inside needs to translate into actions on the outside. Consistently apply what you’ve learned and adapt as needed.

Happy growing!

These throwback photos from my Exchange Program to Germany in 2012 hold a special place in my heart and remind me of a question I'm often asked: Who is my inspiration or idol? šŸ’™
Whenever I'm posed with that question, there is only one name that comes to mind: my incredible father. From the earliest days, he has been my guiding light, the wind beneath my wings, shaping me into the person I am today.
I was just 18 years old when I embarked on an exchange program to Germany. I stayed with a German family, attended a German school, and even had the courage to venture out on solo adventures (before I even knew the term even existed). It was such a transformative experience that opened my eyes to new perspectives and allowed me to grow in ways I couldn't have imagined. I know I came back a different person.
These memories not only hold nostalgic value but a greater significance because they represent the unwavering support of my incredible dad, who believed in me and made this journey possible.
I'll never forget the immense pride I felt when I saw his name in the German newspaper, a result of my accomplishments during the trip. My happiness knew no bounds, but deep down, I knew that it was all because of him.
A single day can never be enough to express my gratitude for all that he has done and all that he has made me into. What I am today, I owe it all to him.

He is the reason I know I am blessed. šŸ˜‡
Image 6&7 is a poem I wrote for him during my time in Germany, and the sentiments it holds are just as true today as they were back then. ā¤ļø

Could this qualify as INSTAGRAM VS REALITY post? šŸ˜

Hahah, found these childhood pictures and can’t get over my own facial expressions. ———————————-

On a wiser note, we all have both delicate and strong sides. Knowing when to use which is key to success. :)

Happy Sunday!
