For ’s A Cathedral for the Future campaign, we designed a donor wall that feels truly part of the Cathedral itself. Each name is etched into limestone—the same material that defines its architecture—creating a seamless connection between design, craft, and place.

The result is quiet, timeless, and enduring—an expression of gratitude grounded in the very stone of the Cathedral.

Not every idea makes it to the final stage. Some are laid to rest in what we call the “Design Graveyard”—a space where creative visions wait for their second chance.

This isn’t a place of failure; it’s a reminder of the iterative nature of creativity. Even unused ideas carry potential. They might not fit today, but they could lead to a breakthrough tomorrow.

Knowing when to set an idea aside is part of growth. It’s a strategic move, leaving space for inspiration to strike when the timing is right.

Here are a few of our favorites that we have laid to rest this year but hope inspire future ideas.

The second graphic is for the “Marfa Thunderstorm” floor and focuses on the probability of precipitation in Marfa, Texas. Each puddle represents a month and the lines represent the chance of rain.

Melina designed these wall graphics for Amazon Charleston. By combining nature and literature, these graphics explore the origins of Amazon as a bookstore and the rich history and environment of Charleston.

For example, Edgar Allen Poe lived and worked in Sullivan’s Island which is called out on one of the maps. The map is then paired with local flora playing off of the the theme of Amazon’s literary “roots”.

In the countdown to 2023, we’re featuring the GHD team’s favorite designs from 2022!

Lynnae designed this glass graphic for an undisclosed tech client in Texas. The building was themed around wildflowers of Texas, and the graphics took a ‘digitized’ approach of representing the flowers for a tie-in with the client’s technology roots.

The colors were selected to match the interior acoustic walls, creating a cohesive color experience when inside the rooms.
