A quick 5-minute exercise:

Open your website, Instagram profile, or wherever most people first discover your business.

Set a timer for 30 seconds and ask yourself:
• Do I immediately understand who this business helps?
• Is it obvious what they actually do?
• Would I feel confident taking the next step?
• Where did I hesitate or have questions?

Once you’ve done it yourself, ask a friend, colleague, or someone who isn’t familiar with your business to do the exact same exercise. Don’t explain anything beforehand, just watch where they pause, what questions they ask, or what they miss.

Those moments are incredibly valuable. They’re often the same moments where potential clients quietly decide to leave.

You don’t need to fix everything at once. Start with the biggest point of hesitation, then repeat the exercise in a few weeks.

Can we all agree this should be illegal? 😅
Okay... maybe not illegal. But definitely a tiny bit cruel.

When someone finally decides to ask for help, they’ve already done the hardest part. Then they click “Book Appointment” and...

“Please email us.”

And the part I hate the most, that it’s almost never just one email.
It’s an email.
Then another.
Then finding a time that works for both of you.
Then another email because it doesn’t. 😅

For therapists, coaches, and other service professionals, online booking removes all that back and forth and makes taking the first step just a little easier.

Sometimes helping more people isn’t about doing more.
It’s about removing one small barrier. 💡

A content shift I’ve been thinking about lately...

Many therapists and coaches are creating content that answers informational questions.

But increasingly, people arrive already informed.

They’ve searched Google.
Asked ChatGPT.
Watched videos.
Read articles.

The more interesting questions are often:
👉 Is this right for me?
👉 What should I do next?
👉 How do I know if it’s time to get support?

The best content doesn’t just educate.
It helps people move forward.

A lot of websites don’t necessarily have a “content problem.”

Sometimes they just have:
* too many pages saying similar things
* unclear service pages
* blog posts trying to do the job of sales pages
* and no real separation between education and offers.

The result?
Google gets mixed signals.
Visitors do too.

Your service pages and blog articles should have different jobs.

👉 Service pages help people understand:
* who you help
* your approach
* what the process looks like
* and how to take the next step

👉 Blog posts help people discover you through topics they already care about.
Clarity matters more than pumping out endless content.

Especially now.

3 homepage mistakes I see often on therapist websites:

• Too much text
• Visitors don’t really find themselves in the messaging
• It’s not clear what to do next

People usually arrive on therapy websites mid-decision already.

They’re quickly trying to understand:
“Do you get what I’m struggling with?”
and
“What happens next if I reach out?”

This might not be a surprise to you, but people arrive on websites already mentally tired and overloaded with information all day long.

So when a homepage feels complicated, unclear, too dense, or tries to explain everything at once, people often just pause and leave instead of figuring it out.

I think simplicity, direction, and clarity matter more now than ever before.

Not because people are lazy, but because they’re overwhelmed.

The websites that usually perform best aren’t necessarily the fanciest ones. They’re the ones that quickly make people feel safe, understood, and clear on what to do next.

Most people think:
👉 “I just need to rank higher”

But what I’m seeing more and more is this:

Your site already shows up.People just don’t feel like it’s the right one to click.

Because in those first seconds, they’re asking:
• is this for me?• does this feel clear?

If the answer isn’t obvious… they keep scrolling.

The good news is, this is usually not a big fix.Just making your message a bit clearer can change a lot.

Most therapists and coaches I talk to say the same thing: “I know I should be writing content, but I don’t know where to start.”

So here’s the simplest place to start. Your clients are already telling you what to write about. You just have to listen a little differently.
