🚀 The TM Poets are at it again! 🚀
On this last day of Poetry Month, we want to share our latest!
Every year we take part in WNYC’s Poetry Month. We started during the pandemic, when we went from our studio on the Bowery to fully remote, and were looking for ways to bring us together. This year’s prompt: Sci-Fi & Fantasy 🚀
How do we do it?
1. Each poet writes a line
2. We only know the last word of the line previous
3. Merging chaotic lines altogether brings beautiful surprises
4. Team poetry recital session
Here we go:
Harmonia
by the Thackway McCord Poets
I.
This triangular tower, where the standard was raised.
That white tower, where dragon-fire blazed.
And confidently, her hand was raised -
“I speak Xonia”
Do we not find this brave new world, with its coded bastions
not colder, not lonelier?
Yet I almost detect the smile in the faded eyes of Dr. Eckleberg as I flash to the horizon
Horizons infinite, magna-filled dreams alive,
Cruising the cosmos on a late-night drive.
II.
Beneath twin suns, the olive tree hums.
Its chrome leaves store earth’s lost dreams.
Ignoring the particle beams, she quickened the harmonia
This thirst for alternate reality – is it not the beating wing of flight from Pandæmonium? –
To silence, the screech of the tracks overhead replaced by the mystical urban wilds of The High Line.
Line of robot taxis hum down Houston Street,
On errands for humans they’ll never meet.
