✨ Project Spotlight: Website Revamp for MovementWorks Dance and Fitness ✨

This one's close to home—literally. I know several little ones who take classes at MovementWorks, and I've seen firsthand how much joy their programs bring to kids in our community. 💃

Director Jess Widener-Pruitt reached out because parents kept telling her the website was confusing to navigate. Built on Squarespace's outdated 7.0 platform, it was hard to find class schedules, understand offerings, or figure out registration.

So we rebuilt it—upgrading to Squarespace 7.1 and redesigning with clarity and cohesion as our guiding principles:

🎨 Established unified visual branding with a coordinated color palette and fonts

🏠 Redesigned the Home page to introduce Jess and showcase the full range of offerings

📚 Reorganized classes into browsable directories so families can quickly find what they need

🔗 Highlighted key actions like registration and Google Reviews

📹 Created guides so Jess can confidently maintain the site herself

MovementWorks now has a professional website that matches the quality of their incredible programming.

Helping a local dance studio make their website work harder for them—updating the platform and organizing content so parents can easily find what they need.

✨ Project Spotlight: Website Redesign for Sarah Grace Tuttle ✨

Author and poet Sarah Grace Tuttle came to me wanting to redesign their Wix website, but as we talked through their goals, it became clear they needed something more: a fresh start on a platform that could grow with them.

Here's what we accomplished together:

📚 Migrated 12 core pages, 8 book pages, and 69 blog posts from Wix to Squarespace
🎯 Reorganized content to highlight their recent works for adult readers
📧 Set up a custom domain email for better marketing deliverability
🛍️ Created an online shop for downloadable chapbooks and handmade bookmarks
♿ Improved accessibility with better color contrast, alt text, and screen reader compatibility

Sarah's feedback means the world: "Josie was kind, approachable, and willing to work with me. I felt supported, and really appreciated how we were able to individualize everything at every step of the process."

Yesterday's Global Cleveland Annual Meeting was my first event as a new member, and I'm so glad I went! 🌍✨

You might know me as a website designer, but before that? I studied abroad in Brazil, became fluent in Portuguese, earned a bachelor's in Portuguese, and got my master's in TESOL. My whole world used to revolve around language, culture, and helping people bridge communication gaps.

Global Cleveland's work hits close to home—supporting international newcomers with housing, jobs, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities. The stories shared yesterday reminded me why these connections matter so much, both personally and for our whole community.

Great networking, inspiring mission, and a reminder of the power of bringing people together.

🌟 Fun Challenges in Web Design 🌟

Lately, I’ve been working on a new website for OberlinKids, a collaborative powered by United Way of Greater Lorain County that brings together partners and community supporters to ensure all children in the Oberlin School District enter school healthy and ready to learn.

As both a website designer and a mom, this project has been a rewarding puzzle — figuring out the best ways to organize resources so parents and caregivers can quickly find what matters most to them.

I had the opportunity to meet with collaborative partners this week, and their energy and feedback confirmed it: this redesign can truly help the Oberlin community thrive. Still plenty of work ahead, but I’m excited about the direction we’re heading!

✨ A Small Change for More Focus ✨

Over the past few months, I found myself stretched between personal tasks, business growth, and client work—leaving me feeling torn between priorities.

So, I’m making a shift! 🎉 To create more focus and balance, I’m moving to a 4-day workweek:
📅 Mondays = Personal day
💻 Tues, Thurs, Fri = Client workdays
🚀 Wednesdays = CEO Day for business strategy

What does this mean for my clients? More focused, efficient progress on projects—without personal tasks creeping into my workdays. Win-win!
