Are you returning to in person work or making a career change?

Perhaps you are starting something on your own.

Whatever path you are on, is what to wear causing you feelings of doubt or stress?

Are you struggling with wardrobe confusion as you try to navigate shifting dress codes
or
Are you experiencing decision fatigue over what to wear to work?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above then you’re invited to:

✨Wardrobes That Work✨

an exclusive virtual offer in honour of International Women's Day where you will learn how to dress your body to show up in confidence!

Why Now?

The unfortunate reality is that over 1/3 of women aged 40-65 report facing age discrimination when it comes to being hired and the pandemic has added to this.

Our society puts a higher premium on youth and will overlook more qualified older candidates.

Studies show that people who appear relevant in terms of how they dress are more likely to be taken seriously and heard.

Could your wardrobe be holding you back?

The harsh reality is that as women, we face a double standard as we age and it's time to take that narrative into our own hands and feel confident as we do it!

Your wardrobe is your tool to convey your message to the world.

A relevant wardrobe is key to achieving that and my passion is to teach you how!

You’re invited to a 1:1 life changing experience where you will leave questioning why you didn’t do this sooner!

Spaces are limited. Hit the link in my bio to grab yours or share this with a woman in your life who needs this self love! See you there!

Client ❤️ Why do I do what I do?

It brings me so much joy, like the kind you physically feel in your heart, (you know that feeling?) to empower you to feel confident in your clothes and then to hear about all the positive ways this impacts all aspects of your life is just the icing on the cake. This is what T had to say about working with me after our Shop Your Closet Plus session right before her last getaway before lockdown last March. We caught up this week and she’s so excited to get back into her wardrobe now that we’re opening back up!

Being diagnosed with colitis in adolescence, I’ve spent years in a very long and complicated relationship with my body. There have been many times where I’ve been angry at my body for constantly betraying me in the way it functions, feels and looks.

For over a decade, weight gain and weight loss were usually out of my control. Whether due to illness or medication, I have had many seasons where I had little control over changing my body. So instead, I changed my clothes.

Focusing on shape not size, my relationship with my body image changed as I developed what I now refer to as the wardrobe wellness connection.

Now in my (almost mid!) 40’s I’m facing changes that naturally come with age and my wardrobe wellness connection continues to help me show up for myself as the best version of myself.

Don’t get me wrong,if your goal is to change your body size in a way that makes you feel great, go for it! Remember, it’s not all or nothing. There’s room for you to show up as the best version of yourself even if you’re not in the best place. To deprive yourself from enjoying how you look and the joy of expressing who you are because you think there’s no point to change your clothes until you change your body is counterproductive as it deepens the struggle with your body image.

Instead dressing the body you have now honours where you’re at and allows you to see yourself in clothes that will continue to flatter you and make you feel great as your body changes.

Now that we’re hopefully re emerging into social settings again the last thing you need is the extra stress of changing your body before you allow yourself to enjoy life. Treat yourself with kindness and change your clothes instead.

Show some ❤️ and share this message with anyone who needs to hear this right about now.

Double tap if you love the start of a new fashion season?

A new season is upon us and with it the marketing of new “must have” trends!

Although trends play an important role in updating and creating a relevant wardrobe, by the time we are in our 40s we’ve experimented with so many and worn so many, that managing trends, specifically which to participate in or pass on can be difficult!

From wondering if you can still wear it again to if it’s still “you”, how do you avoid ending up with more clothes you will later regret buying? Clothes that will sit in your closet with tags on making you feel guilty? Swipe to find one style strategy I use with my clients to create clarity for them on this!

Plus to further help you navigate the new season-new trend noise, I’m taking you step by step through it on my 🆕 blog post: “Managing Trends 101”.

Remembering good times and glam tonight.

Since it’s debut 4 years ago, for a very special time in my life, this dress has made several encore appearances since and was meant to make a few more this past year.

I can’t wait to bust it out again! Currently in my pjs debating whether or not to tune in to the Golden Globes.

What’s your plan this evening? Are you tuning in? Does seeing all the glam make you feel nostalgic as well?

02/12/2021

Those of you who have been here before know my life changing experience with “Dopamine dressing” from a young age. Now, years later there’s the research to support this and the pandemic has furthered the evidence. So what is “Dopamine dressing”? Is it a real thing?

Yes! The term has been around for a while and resurfaced as a result of the pandemic. Simply put it’s dressing in a way that makes you feel good and ultimately boosts your mood. It helps you tap into your best self and experience a moment of joy exactly where you’re at right now! Not 10lbs from now or whatever it is you’re waiting on to achieve. Now! Studies show that seeing yourself dressed in a way that’s visually appealing to you, positively affects how you see yourself and how you behave. It’s so much more than just about the clothes. It’s about how the clothes affect your mindset.

At A Styled State of Mind, empowering you to learn how to foster and grow this mindset is at the core of what I do. With things being so heavy and uncertain right now, it has been one thing I can rely on to help motivate me even in my darkest time.

If you’re in need of some dopamine dressing mindset strategies during this time, join me and Jodi Katzin certified Mind Body Eating Coach on February 25th where we go deeper with this and more. And until tomorrow we’re giving away 2 tickets to attend! See previous post for details.

I would love to know, what are your thoughts or experience on “dopamine dressing”?

Client Success 👏

Meet Terri. I feel so fortunate that I got to meet Terri and am richer for hearing her story and you will be too.

Terri is an articulate career woman and mom of 2 young kids, who comes to me about 2 weeks before she is scheduled to speak at a TEDx event!

An event where she will share her intimate and heartfelt story. Her story of learning to appreciate life while navigating grief in “What I wish people knew after my husband died”.

During our Discovery Call, Terri shares that she wants to feel comfortable, like herself and put together. She wants to feel authentic to herself and her story. She wants her image to convey that but doesn’t know how.

Given the timing, our Teach Me Style™️ Intro package is perfect. After I conduct Body Shape and Style Personality assessments, Terri receives her Personal Style Guide filled with all her results and what they mean in terms of 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 exactly what clothing she should look for, plus sample outfits with real time shoppable links to save her time and money!

The stress that comes with doubt is gone as Terri emails me the items she selected using her style guide and with my feedback on colour for camera, fit and style, she merges existing pieces with new to create an outfit she feels confident in!

In the end, she decides on the blue blouse because “Blue was Dave’s favourite colour so I knew I had to go with that as a small way to honour him.
I also knew I wanted to feel my best while sharing my story and that included looking my best and feeling confident in what I wore!”

I’m so honoured to have been a part of helping Terri 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 confident in . The message Terri shares about grief through her story are definitely worth listening to. Click the link in my bio to watch.
