Educational Moment: The Networking Disconnect

- There's a phenomenon called "The Networking Disconnect" which explores the idea that people go to networking events to try to sell their services and products... which means everyone there is competing and also looking to sell you theirs.

- What makes BNI so unique is there are strategies in place to try to close this disconnect. Many visitors often find themselves surprised by how refreshing BNI meetings are - there's no competition, just people trying to help other people.

- BNI chapters work to actively solve the Network Disconnect phenomenon by following the mindset of "givers gain." Our mindset is not to just sell you our services, but to help our other members grow theirs by "farming" (AKA developing relationships and credibility) instead of "hunting" (aka selling hard).

- By farming relationships and by giving referrals to others, referrals come back to us and our profits increase exponentially - essentially closing the network disconnect.

- Any networking is a fantastic way to share your business, but always remember to follow up with contacts made.

A big thank you to our featured presenter this week, BNI Prestige President and Personal Injury Attorney - Matthew Wasserman.

Matthew graduated with his Juris Doctor from NSU Shepard Broad College of Law in 2014, and was recently awarded the Top 40 Under 40 for Personal Injury by the American Institute of Trial Lawyers and National Trial Lawyers.

He handles personal injury cases for all types of incidents including:
- Motor Vehicle Accidents (rear-end, t-bone, cyclists, pedestrians, etc.)
- Premises Liability (slip and fall, employee negligence)
- Wrongful Death (product defects, negligent security, vehicle negligence, etc.)

Network Education: Things You Can Do To Generate Repeat Business

1. Start a loyalty program. Give your past customers some special benefits and incentives.
2. Give out future use coupons.
3. Get customer contact info and stay in touch. Start a drip campaign to check in regularly with how they're doing.
4. Offer some freebies and little giveaways to share with customers.
5. Offer customers the opportunity to offer you feedback via quick online surveys.
