Let’s go back in time a good 6 years...
I was an ambitious 20 year old who was given the opportunity to intern with Sony Music in Beverly Hills, CA. A dream come true for me with aspirations to work in entertainment business. The only catch was i needed to get college credit, now given my academic standing i was “technically” ineligible.
Now, that did not stop me nor do i condone this behavior but i was determined and forged the internship paperwork stating i was receiving college credit and played it off until they asked me for it on my first day.
I was also broke, and sold my first car, a 2000 Honda Civic or Shamu as i used to call her (swipe left) for $2500, the same amount i paid for her in HS since luckily the odometer was tweaked (owner before me did it 😭) and it would go for 109,999 miles back down to 100,000 🤷🏾♂️
I took that money and bought a one way to LAX, even though i was scammed out of a room i rented to be ready for me, along with some telling me to fly back and give up, i figured it out, fulfilled my internship and got LIFE Credit. I would do it all again today and may not be where i am today if it wasn’t for that leap of faith.
Moral of the story, and a reminder for myself: Don’t let any obstacles deter you from following your passion. No degree, accolade or salary will satisfy you more that fueling your passion.
