The Strive Award was created to recognize the people who go above and beyond in service to our community. It’s about shining a light on those moments of leadership, compassion, teamwork, and professionalism that often happen behind the scenes but make a very real difference.
This month, we are proud to recognize Christina Hervey, Victim Services Coordinator with the Oxford Police Department, as our Strive Award recipient.
During a critical call on August 12, Christina stepped in when communication with a distressed and uncooperative individual became difficult. Using her CIT training, Christina was able to establish communication, help calm the situation, determine the individual’s location, and ultimately help bring the situation to a safe conclusion.
While Christina is our Strive Award representative, this call was truly a team effort. From the dispatchers who immediately began working the call and gathering critical information to the officers and staff who each stepped in and did their part, their coordinated response and professionalism helped create the opportunity for a positive outcome.
