It’s such a good time to Fall, y’all.
Fall in love with your life.
I shared just a few ways..
Pick a ridiculously large bouquet of flowers or your choice!
Look for the unexpected, the unusual, even the goofy grins.
* tip: goofy grins may be your cat’s or dog’s grin.. even babies!
Take photos of you! Me? I’ve almost got that ‘deer in the headlights’ look down pat!
Embrace the blues.. the beautiful Blue Skies! Wear that favorite denim shirt!
And, yes the blues you may feel as Fall gets underway.
There’s always a bit of melancholy for me.. you?
Forget about how your legs look. (Or whatever body part you’re worried about!)
If you followed the advice to pick a big bouquet?
Folks will be distracted looking at that big bouquet!
Dress up! Dress up the porch.. and while you’re at it,
Dress up yourself!
And, not to be missed-
Love. Laugh. Linger. Smile at Laugh.
I think you’re ready to Fall in Love with your Life.
You’re ready to Enjoy what you Do, Create or Offer in fresh ways.
You’re not tired of learning new things.

Why talk about Props when I teach Writing?
Well, these days- a whole lot of writing is Image Driven.
Images start telling the story before you write a word!
And, there’s this- when you use Nostalgic Props.. that starts the writing process, too!
I’m Brenda Wyatt. Author, Blogger for 10 years. And Course Creator.

Why Use Props for Writing?
Props start telling the story before you write a Word!
A little secret marketing tip here-
Nostalgic props help.
Why?
Because studies have shown for years and years that -
Nostalgia is one of the best Marketing Tools.
I have been teaching this for a long time myself.
I teach it now.

Do you have to use nostalgic props?
No, of course not.
Though, as a retail and interior display specialist for 30+ years..
We knew that contrasting the ‘old with new’ was a winning combination!

I have an extensive list of props, even images that will help you Style what you Do, Create or Offer… though, start with what you have on hand.

Your background and your props can make a world of difference in how your Art, your Products, your Work looks.
Yes, we need to write so many places, no matter what we do- it helps start the writing if you have and use good props.

Are you like me, I heard that old marketing advice-
Find Your Niche..
Maybe you named her Susan?
It was a recipe for rabbit hole digging for me!
Besides…my southern accent couldn’t say the word 🫣
Be the Niche of you, kept ringing in my head.

Why? Because I felt, still feel, that individual human beings are drawn
magnetically to real people.
Here’s the thing-
When you trust your inner compass, write from your own perspective..
Believe me, You are the Scroll Stopper.

I worked in fashion. No truer words are this-
‘An original is always better than a cheap imitation.’
Be a Niche of You.

There’s a catch here..
There will be a little Imp sitting on your shoulder whispering things
that make you water yourself down. Dilute your real self.
An Imp whisper that is a big one for me is:
‘Your Age is working against you, darlin’
*there’s always a grain of truth in the lie the Imp is whispering..so!
Tell that imp, you’re not listening!

Lean hard on what you believe. Speak the truth you’re afraid to say.
Say the things you think.
*I’m talking here about being contentious, unless you want to be 🫣

Just do this- Be your real, best self!
Be the Niche of You.

I worked as a fashion stylist. I cannot tell you how many times
I walked over to the Foundations Department for a customer.
‘Darling, you just need a little support.’

Here I am, saying it again.
Not to make an outfit look better..
To tell you that
We All Need Support.
Foundations.
‘Darlin’ you just need a little support’.

Even, folks who are already good at what they do..
Need Support.
I don’t aspire to be the Leading Lady.
Best Supporting Actress. Yes, I would love that!

A Garlic Chive Bouquet is early Fall for me..
A September Joy.
I don’t even recall where I got my first clump of these chives..
What I do know, they attract bees, even butterflies.
It’s one of the Joys of this seasonal shift..
Just when other plants are winding down..
these Bloom. They also spread but not obnoxiously so..
and no Garden ever has to touch them..
Do you have a garden journal?
I have a notebook, that needs to updated.
Would it be boring to folks who found it after I’m gone?
We never know for sure- though the next family who lives here might.
Please don’t jump ahead! I’m not planning on leaving just yet.
I’m just musing..
I like the idea of keeping a garden journal- its legacy writing.
I would like for mine to have sketches too!
I have a confession, as many cookbooks as I have?
I have lots of garden books.
The coffee table kind are my favorites.

I found a garden journal years ago at a thrift shop.
It’s wonderful with grids to plan your own.
What wasn’t wonderful,
is that there were No Notes written by the previous owner.
I still have it. It’s not pristine and new.
I still feel the disappointment that whoever owned this book,
didn’t leave behind a record.
Do we realize how much, a handwritten notation could mean to others?
I think we do.
What you have say, and why are unique.
Please don’t underestimate your words or your writing.

I’ll admit, I love to write using humor, while also using human characteristics..
here I’m gonna talk a little Southern to you, using a beloved herb.
Mint.
I’m not claiming the south has exclusive rights to it.
Just sayin’
Let me tell you the stories of Mint!
My Mimi’s favorite way to make iced tea was with a mint infused sugar syrup.
We do live where the sugar cane grows!

Though, we also enjoy using Mint in bouquets..
or just all by itself in a pretty container.
It makes whatever room it’s in, smell so fresh!

Some folks like to keep it near entry doors, especially near the kitchen.
* it was believed to keep insects away, or if didn’t?
You could rub a bit on your skin and soothe the insect bite!

Some folks dried a bundle of mint, into tight rolls and used it as a smudge.
To Air things out!

The Grasshopper, was a mint infused drink concocted by a bartender in New Orleans, early 1900s. Some folks have taken those flavors and made pies!
And, where would that Kentucky Derby be without a Mint Julep? 🐎

Here’s the thing, yes, we like to keep a patch of mint going.
I thought I had a good plan.. a convenient
, nearby plan
along with other herbs I use in cooking -

Mint did not follow the Plan..
She arrived with one suitcase, within a few weeks- Mint had taken over the Kitchen, redecorated the Living Room and ..
is currently driving my station wagon to the Garden Center!
😮 I’m afraid she’s looking for her wild friend Mugwort!

Honestly, it’s like an unruly, rude child!
One that has to be confined and still manages to escape!

It’s early Fall..
Back to School..
Back to Work?
This season like any other, begs for Self Care.
You do all the things.. are you last on the To Do list?
I get it.
We need a few ways that don’t take much Time!
Here’s my 3 Tips:
1. Step Outside.
2. Let your Mind wander.. *very important!
3. Write.

Did I hear you say, ‘Write?’
Yes..
If you need an idea. Our minds tend to think about ‘What’s going on?’
‘What went wrong?’

Unless you’re extremely, habitually happy with life?
Our minds tend to go to those negative, anxious thoughts. Right?

A few weeks ago, I started a running list.
I add to it daily.

Start a ‘What went right?’ List.
I’ve already filled 2 pages, front and back!

Sometimes I scan over it.
Honestly, it Helps.

To me, that’s Self Care at its finest!
