A mood board isn’t decoration, it’s where we test color, imagery, and type before anything gets built. Here we ran three directions: retro packaging, vintage archive, and a custom type system, side by side until one made the brand obvious.

Before the colors, the fonts, and the polish… there’s the skeleton. 🦴 Low-fi wireframes are where we test the layout and the flow, so everything we build after actually works. Structure first. Beauty second. That’s how bold brands get built.

The work clients never see is the work that makes everything else possible.

This is Mia - one of our designers, mid-session, walking through website wireframes she built from scratch for a client strategy presentation. Three iterations on the wall. Sticky notes everywhere. Real thinking happening in real time.

No filters or polished deliverable deck. Just the messy, rigorous process that happens before any of that.

Wireframing isn't an option. It's a thinking tool. It's how we stress-test information architecture, validate user flow, and align everyone from design, dev, and client, before a single line of code is written.

For SXSW, we partnered with 1 Hotels (1 Hotels) to create an activation rooted in their “1 Less Thing” initiative. The idea was simple, but effective. Travel lighter and give back.

So we designed and built a fully functional installation where attendees could donate clothing on-site. Each drop point was integrated directly into the structure, with messaging built into the experience, not just placed on top of it.

The goal was to make people stop, read, and actually participate.

Everything was built using natural materials to stay aligned with the brand. No plastic. No shortcuts. Live greenery provided by Enchantment Austin.

From concept to fabrication to installation, this was one of the fastest turnarounds we’ve ever executed. And it worked because the idea was clear from day one.

Our newest Public Relations & Social Media Manager here at Forty4 Design!

Carolina graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2025 with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Business.

From fashion design and vintage sourcing to filming beauty and lifestyle content, Carolina brings creativity and culture into everything she does. After interning at MikeWorldWide and Forty4 Design, she’s officially stepped into her role as the PR and social lead at Forty4, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on the team. Let’s get it, Carolina!
