If your Google Ads aren’t profitable right now, it’s usually not because you need to spend more.

It’s because your budget is being quietly wasted in a few very specific places.

After reviewing a lot of accounts, here are the 4 biggest leaks I consistently see:

1. Bidding on the wrong keywords.

Most businesses rely too heavily on broad match without enough negative keywords.

What that actually means is that you’re paying for clicks from people who were never going to convert in the first place.

Quick fix: Start reviewing your search terms weekly and actively adding negatives.

This alone can cut wasted spending fast.

2. No real conversion tracking set up

If you’re not tracking calls, form submissions, and purchases properly, Google is optimizing based on the wrong data.

Which means, even if your campaign “looks” fine, it’s learning from bad signals.

Quick fix: Make sure you’re tracking calls, conversions (what you want to be happening, form submissions, thank you page, purchases, etc.)

Most people assume it’s:

- Not enough budget,
- The wrong keywords
- Or “Google Ads just don’t work for my business”

But after looking at a lot of accounts, that’s rarely the real issue.

Here’s what’s actually going wrong:

1. You’re getting clicks… but not conversions

Traffic alone doesn’t mean anything. If your landing page isn’t built to convert, you’re paying for visitors who leave.

2. There’s no trust built on the page

No testimonials, no proof, no real reason to believe you. And if people don’t trust you, they don’t convert. It’s that simple.

3. Your ad and landing page don’t match

If someone clicks expecting one thing and lands on something else, they bounce immediately.

👉 This is where most campaigns break.

The ad gets the click…

But everything after that determines whether you get a lead or waste money.
