If you need me, I’ll be in a meeting with two 11-year-old entrepreneurs. This is one of the best parts of getting to work for myself ❤️

Working with a mix of corporate clients and small businesses and solopreneurs, I’ve learned that size doesn’t matter when it comes to brand marketing. The benefits are wide-ranging when you choose to invest in strategy.

1️⃣ Everyone gains clarity. Whether it’s clarity around what kind of business you’re building or around what goals and priorities your marketing team needs to be focusing on, a brand marketing strategy is the equivalent of driving somewhere new with GPS vs winging it.

2️⃣ You can market with confidence. No one likes feeling like their work has little impact; a brand marketing strategy helps you or your team understand the purpose behind their efforts—and saves everyone valuable time, money, and effort.

3️⃣ A good strategy helps push the brand (and the business) forward. Effective marketing requires consistency in messaging and alignment across all channels where customers can interact with you. No matter where they engage with your brand, they’ll know what to expect.

Let’s normalize taking ownership of our wins and accomplishments.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being proud of your abilities after years of working in your field. It’s not bragging or being self-indulgent when it’s true (and well-earned). My hope is to not just model positive self-talk at home for my daughters, but to also hopefully inspire all women and girls to keep raising their hands in every room they step into.

I’m so over people feeling pressure from internet marketers to focus on quantity over quality. Stop trying to beat an algorithm, and start becoming the absolute best at what you do IRL.

Hooooo boy, the very quick rise and fall of the US Men’s Hockey Team is this week’s big brand fail.

I’ve been having a lot of offline chats about whether or not brands need to speak up about what’s happening in America right now, and my advice is the same as it always is: it depends.

If you have brand values that are deeply rooted in spaces that align with what’s happening, then yes, speak up! If you don’t, then you’re probably better off being quiet for a little bit and letting other conversations take center stage.

Personally, I’ve been sick about what’s been happening in Minnesota and I’ve been very, very loud about it on my personal accounts. I feel like my voice will have a bigger impact in those other spaces, and political advocacy isn’t why people enjoy engaging with me as a brand.

Oh, hello 2016 me. What a journey it’s been.

Your life is consumed by two things: navigating motherhood and getting on solid ground as a business owner. Both of these things are intertwined in a way you won’t be able to understand until you have time to come up for air and reflect - everything feels like survival mode right now.

And yet.

You were a great mom in 2016 (and are still a great mom in 2026!). Your business was so new, you were basically only working part-time, and so you had the freedom and flexibility to show up for your daughter in so many important ways.

You were so ambitious in 2016, although also willing to put work on the backburner for your growing family, knowing that having a second child was lurking around the corner and you’d have to start the clock all over again.

The one thing I see so clearly now with hindsight, however, was that 2016 was a deeply transitional time for me. Motherhood has a strange way of reshaping you. I was not quite sure who I was as a person, feeling grief around losing my autonomy and my body and trying to figure out who I was as a woman.

And I also had serious imposter syndrome, not nearly as confident in business as I am now. I worked with the wrong clients, charged way too little, and agreed to do work that I didn’t love.

2016 me would be so proud of 2026 me ❤️

11 years has gone by in a blink! I’ve learned so much along the way—I’ve worked with the wrong clients, said yes to the wrong projects, and have decided (at least twice) to rebrand and move away from providing certain services.

Let your happiness be your North Star: if something isn’t feeling right, if it’s a constant struggle, or if you’re starting to get the Sunday scaries, then it’s time to rethink how you’re showing up in your business. Don’t be afraid to chase your own happiness; it’s the best way to ensure that you remain in love with your work.

I’m noticing a new trend in conversations that I’m having with clients: trouble with their elevator pitch, their mission and their values.

In other words, a lot of brands can’t put their WHY into words right now. And I can guarantee you that if you don’t know why, potential customers sure don’t know why either.

Luckily, there’s a solution to that problem: an affordable, easy to DIY online brand strategy course from yours truly 😘

Boundaries aren’t just needed in your personal life, they’re also vital to a happy work life. I’ve mastered the art of good boundaries (I never work more than 35 hours a week!) and am so happy to share what I’ve learned along the way.

What’s your greatest challenge or fear around boundary-setting?
