Прошедшая неделя ознаменована двумя продуктивными днями в замечательной профессиональной студии звукозаписи Мэттью Зиска в Принстоне, штат Нью Джерси. Записали две мои фортепьянные пьесы на его именитом Стайнвее.

Пьеса "Ты любима" посвящена всем дочерям матерей-нарциссов, с надеждой на исцеление детской травмы.

"Отечество мое" - о той земле, откуда я родом, где сформировалась моя идентичность, о которой мои думы, которую люблю безмерно. А вдохновением послужила пятая часть "Всенощного бдения" С.В. Рахманинова (Ныне отпущаеши раба своего), которое в марте я имела честь спеть с Bucks County Choral Society.

A very different music/marketing project I have been proud to be a part of for the past few years. My partner-in-life Boris Sonis is a gifted singer-songwriter, composer and poet, in addition to being a top notch manual therapist and sports rehabilitation specialist. Boris's three songs are being released for the first time on April 12, 2024 on the RU_SweetRains label (Sweet Rains Records, NY). Produced and mixed by a well-known sound engineer Igor Kissil, the mini-album will be available on all world digital platforms. I hope you enjoy this 60-second short Russian language video promo for one of the songs ("I did not believe in miracles") where I humbly provided back-up vocals. Go Boris! .

It's the saddest day. I learned about the passing of my colleague in music and friend Ghenady Meirson after a battle with cancer. Ghena's life was Music, and without doubt, he was the biggest advocate of Russian Opera not just in the Philadelphia's Curtis and AVA scene, but probably in America. Students flocked to study their roles with him from all over the world.

I will never forget those busy days as we were working so hard together to start and promote his project Russian Opera Workshop. Thanks to his creative talented mind, he was able to create a great supportive team, including both of his children. The workshop turned out to be great success and became a beloved Philly summer tradition at AVA.

I will never forget those "orchestra hands" of Ghena. And singing in the workshop's volunteer choir as we rehearsed and performed in his rendition of Rachmaninov's Aleco and Tchaikovsky's The Maid of Orleans. I will never forget those concerts of Russian Romance songs he organized at AVA every December, an event worth waiting for, year after year...

The art of Gusli, a traditional Russian string instrument, is being revived, along with rebirth of many Slavic traditions and folklore all across Russia. I recently traveled to Moscow and met Maxim Gavrilenko, one of the leading gusli-making masters, talented musician, performer and poet. I was honored to receive my own Gusli created by Maxim at his studio "Kruzhovnik" in the town of Kostroma. I also was fortunate to take several lessons with Maxim and stay for a rehearsal with his band "Ladoni" (palms). Unforgettable experience! Here is a great interview with Maxim about Russian culture, history and his personal approach to performing traditional folk repertoire in the world of today.
