With over 35 years of experience in special education, Dr. William Lane is passionate about equipping parents and educators with the tools and supports they need to ensure that all students have meaningful academic experiences.

As a special education consultant, international speaker, and best-selling author, Dr. William Lane recognized that parents and educators of special education students are overwhelmed, and he wanted to make his information and resources more accessible to those who needed it most.

With a complete brand refresh, multi-platform marketing strategy, and website overhaul, we worked with Dr. Lane to target his message to the right audience and be recognized as a reliable and trustworthy source in the special education community.

Amity means “friendly relationship,” and that’s what the founders of Amity Coffee Roasters & Cafe strive to do: bring people together over thoughtful roasts, high-quality brews, and made-from-scratch baked goods.

When Amity Coffee first approached us, they were searching for clarity. They recognized their cafe as a cornerstone of their community and were just as passionate about cultivating meaningful connections with their clientele as they were about their single-origin coffee beans and made-from-scratch baked goods, but they struggled to communicate their products, services, and values consistently across their platforms.

First, we sat down with Amity Coffee and developed tailored brand messaging that captured the core of who they are, what they do, and the mission that drives them to do it.

We then used those guidelines as a framework to build a workhorse of a website that had the features they needed to streamline their processes, including: e-commerce store integration, online order intake forms, coffee cart scheduling, cafe menus, and a secure wholesale customer portal.

Results:
• 104% ⬆️ yr/yr site visits
• 110% ⬆️ yr/yr site visitors
• 88% ⬆️ yr/yr pageviews

It's a different kind of today!

In my spare time over the past few weeks, I've been working on a building a website and designing new branding elements for my personal storytelling project, The Slower Lower.

Of all of the photos I've taken over the last few months, I believe these three photos best represent the visual direction I'm envisioning, and I'm excited to show off the new, fullwidth Squarespace website I've been working on to best showcase Sussex County in all of its beauty.

What do you all think?

Are you stoked for the weekend?

"Self-care" wasn't much of a priority in my life--but that was before Day 39 of quarantine rolled around, and I realized that all I do all day is work, eat, and drink (and not necessarily in that order).

This week, I'm trying to commit to some form of self-care--even if it's just working out or making a healthy meal--and I'm hoping it helps me feel more rested, creative, and engaged, despite the craziness that's going on.

What are some of your go-to at-home self-care practices? I'm desperate for suggestions!

I was going through my camera roll this morning and found these snapshots from the past couple of months--mid-afternoon sangria sipping in Florida, Saturday morning coffeeshop dates, midweek happy hours.

It's wild to think how different life was just a few weeks ago, but I have hope that we'll be able to safely reconvene with friends and family soon.

In the meantime, I'm trying to take advantage of staying home and working on new projects that I "never had the time" to do before.

What major to-do list item have you been able to cross off?

I'm not going to lie--it's still weird having to call my grandparents to remind them to sanitize their produce. Wild times.

But, I can't complain.

In the past couple of weeks, too many of my friends have lost their jobs and too many of my favorite local businesses have closed their doors, not one knowing when they might find a job or be able to open again.

I've been wrestling with the same question so many others have: how can I help?

1️⃣ Contribute to relief funds that provide direct cash support to workers--like restaurant staff--laid off during the coronavirus crisis.

2️⃣ Buy gifts cards or certificates from your favorite locally-owned businesses to use towards future purchases or service appointments (like haircuts or spa services).

3️⃣ Order carry-out or meal kits . Some restaurants are even selling household staples--like toilet paper--to meet their customers’ most-pressing needs.

4️⃣ Sign-up for online fitness classes as an alternative to going to the gym.

5️⃣ Reach out on social media and ask your community’s small businesses directly.

6️⃣ Stay at home.

--

I’m staying home for my grandparents and great aunts and uncles, for my twin sister who’s a pharmacist at a hospital in Norfolk, for my friends with compromised immune systems, for my cousin who’s a hairstylist and restaurant server, for Marie at Amity Coffee and Alan at Every Fiber, for the other businesses that support our Main Street.

Who are you staying at home for?

What's your go-to activity?

I'm late to game, but I finally started listening to , and it's been the best escape from the 24-hour news cycle. I've watched all the way through at least seven times now, and this podcast is the extra special layer of behind-the-scenes content I never knew I needed!

Oh, and I've also been staying up way too late at night scrolling through TikTok. Anybody else? 😬🤣

I don't know about you, but one of the many things I'm struggling with as a creative entrepreneur/small business owner is how to create content or market our services in these uncertain, scary times.

I want to be helpful, provide value, and be a source of strength and positivity; but, as a B2B design studio, I don't want to inadvertently present our brand as seeking profit or preying on potential clients' vulnerabilities and hardships.

Do you feel the same way?

I found a helpful article on this topic this morning and wanted to share their advice:

"Customers are not seeking confidence that potential suppliers are 'here for them' in times of trouble. Nor are they seeking confidence that certain suppliers offer 'best-in-class' solutions. Instead, customers are in need of confidence in themselves and their own organization’s ability to survive, if not thrive, during times of disruption and uncertainty."

In practical terms: "Focus on content topics that are directly relevant to what you do in the market and present a focused, unique POV that aligns back to your audience."

Do you have any insight on this? How is your brand approaching content marketing right now (if at all) to be helpful and provide value to your audience?

Chick-fil-A's breakfast chicken biscuit just hits different when you're at the airport on two hours of sleep. 😋🍴

One of the best parts of my job is being able to work anywhere with an electrical outlet and a Wifi connection. A few weeks ago, it was the Denver airport, as I was waiting out a four-hour layover to surprise one of my best friends on her birthday.

Even with all of that is going on in the world, feeling blessed. 🙏🏻
