IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME (AGAIN) FOR A BEER: Pittsburgh Brewing Co. and Ruggers Pub Announce the Fourth Annual Good Cheer, the Official Holiday Bar of Iron City Beer and I.C. Light on Saturday, November 25th.
Iron City and IC Light's Official Holiday Bar, Good Cheer, located within Ruggers Pub, is coming back for its 4th year.
Initially opened in 2020, Good Cheer takes the well-loved concept of an immersive, "Instagrammable”, yuletide bar experience... and makes it YINZER. Which, as we know in Pittsburgh makes everything better!
The menu has a local twist as well, both in offerings as well as price point. Iron City and IC Light are included on the Good Cheer menu, with no item pushing over the $6 mark. There is even a cocktail that features IC Light as a drink component. (Good Cheer's most popular and requested drink!) But, if for some reason guests choose not to imbibe from Good Cheer’s menu, Ruggers’ bar is still fully functional.
In addition to festive drink specials, holiday-themed festivities and photos with Santa by the Good Cheer fireplace will also take place during the month of December. Make sure to visit Ruggers Pub's website and follow them on social media ( on Instagram) for the latest updates.
In addition to a month full of holiday events, Good Cheer is partnering with Toys for Tots as an official dropbox location, as well as us collecting GIFT CARDS ONLY for the Pittsburgh Women's Center and Shelter. The deadline for collection is December 18th.
“We couldn't be more excited to bring Good Cheer back to Southside!” says Alex Gordon, General Manager of Ruggers Pub. Ruggers Pub has been a constant for over 23 years, and has been committed to bringing smiles to our friends and neighbors over cold beers and delicious food from Day One. Working with an institution like Pittsburgh Brewing Company is a dream come true, and allows us to do more good than we ever could alone. We hope to see all yinz down here for the festivities!”
While Ruggers Pub, which opened in 2000, may not be as much of a household name as Iron or IC Light, the rugby-themed watering hole has a long-standing relationship with Pittsburgh Brewing. Engraved on a plaque that has hung on the wall since opening day are the following words: “We invite you to enjoy yourself at Ruggers Pub, lift up an Iron, and toast Eddie Short.” (Eddie Short was a fellow rugby teammate whose passing was the inspiration for opening the bar.) Currently, Pittsburgh Brewing and Ruggers Pub support the Pittsburgh Forge Rugby Club through sponsorship, and the team proudly wears the Iron logo on their chest during every game.
The initial concept of the holiday-themed "takeover bar" was crafted by Sara Lynn Ruth, owner of Saralynn Créatif - Design, Branding, Web/SEO, Digital/Traditional Mktg, who has managed Ruggers Pub's marketing since 2018. "We were looking for a way initially to strengthen the partnership with Iron City in a way that creatively incorporated both brands. With the known success of holiday pop-ups in Pittsburgh, we decided to present Pittsburgh Brewing with the idea of transforming an already existing bar into an over-the-top representation of the Iron City brand as well as the holidays... and they loved it. And four years later, here we are."
Good Cheer opens today, Saturday, November 25th and is located within Ruggers Pub, located at 40 S 22nd St, Pittsburgh, PA 15203. More information can be found at https://www.ruggerspub.com/good-cheer-ruggers-pub.
