Check out my Etsy shop to purchase these vinyl decal stickers designed for localization professionals.

These sleek vinyl decal stickers are a thin, durable design cut from adhesive vinyl. You peel off the backing, place the design on a surface, and smooth it down so it sticks. (You can see how snazzy the subtitler one looks on my laptop in one of the photos!)

These make a great gift for yourself or the linguist in your life. You can order stickers on my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/yuricktranslations, or via email at [email protected]. 😃

It’s dig into the archives day! I’m excited to share that I created the English subtitles and English SDH subtitles for Olympo, a new Spanish drama series that launched on Netflix in June 2025.

🏅 Olympo is set at the fictional Pirineos High Performance Center, where the country’s most promising young athletes train, compete, and chase sponsorships with the global fashion brand Olympo. This sports-centered storyline intertwines with dramatic stories of love, friendship, and bullying…

🏊 As the translator, the most challenging part was doing a deep dive on artistic swimming terms, as the main character is the captain of the artistic swimming team! The best part? ALL THE SPANISH DRAMA is always fun to translate.

📽️ If you’re into sports, drama, beautiful athletes, and high-stakes competition, this series is definitely worth a watch! Check out the trailer with my subtitles at the below link:

Here comes my Q2 update… just fashionably late by a month! 🤣

🎥 I launched my self-paced course, “How to Break into the Subtitling Market” on the OOONA EDU platform. The course is perfect for linguists looking to explore subtitling professionally. It includes video tutorials, quizzes, tasks, and 19 lessons of insight! Check it out here: https://www.ooona.net/product/how-to-break-into-the-subtitling-market/

🏅 I had the chance to work on Olympo, the new Spanish YA drama from the creators of Élite. I created the Spanish to English pivot template and subtitles. Think high-performance athletes, juicy secrets, and top-tier drama. It’s been streaming on Netflix since June!

🇹🇷 I also did English quality control for a Turkish soap opera. While I don’t speak Turkish, I reviewed the final English subtitles. Beautiful cast, wild plot twists, and a super engaging storyline… It was a blast to work on.

😉 In one of the spiciest projects I’ve ever worked on, I joined a team of freelancers subtitling a series of documentaries exploring the real lives and stories of some of the world’s most iconic gay adult film stars. We worked across French, Spanish, and English, translating and subtitling in all directions. You can watch their stories here: https://mencrush.com/

🔎 I’m currently wrapping up the translation of a dialogue list for a murder-mystery series, and now have a handy list of all Sherlock Holms book titles in English and Spanish.

🏖️ I wrote a travel article about the best beaches in northern Spain… basically my dream.

💖 And my favorite show I’ve ever translated is finally launching this month. Can’t wait to share more soon!

🤗 On a personal note: I drove to Arizona to celebrate Easter with family, went to San Francisco for a girl’s weekend, flew to Hawaii to celebrate my birthday, survived (and enjoyed) my 20-year high school reunion in Minnesota, went to Salt Lake City to see Ben Kweller in concert, and few to Las Vegas to see the Backstreet Boys at the Sphere (90’s flashback, anyone?).

Today’s release day! I created the Spanish to English pivot template and English subtitles for The Snow Girl 2: The Soul Game, launching today on

Title and genre:
🇪🇸 La chica de nieve 2: El juego del alma
🇺🇸 The Snow Girl 2: The Soul Game
📕 Mystery thriller

✍ Summary:
With Jaime as her new partner, Miren Rojo will dive into a dangerous investigation that will put not only her life but also her sanity at risk.

🏔️ My favorite part:
I worked on season 1, and I’m always surprised by how many of my translations I remember from previous seasons when working on the new one. Character phrases, words, quotes, and speech quirks are consistent across seasons and it’s fun to bring them back to life a year or two later.

🥴 The most challenging parts:
-Challenge 1: This season is full of biblical references, prayers, and bible quotes. Bible Gateway was a great resource for helping me find official translations.
-Challenge 2: This season includes quite a bit of violence, self-harm, and torture. And that’s simply hard to watch over, and over, and over again.

📽️ If you like a good thriller with twists, turns, and surprises, watch The Snow Girl 2 and let me know what you think!

Not sure if it’s for you? Watch the trailer with my English subtitles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaMxBJ7BJ0Q

The 65th conference in Portland, Oregon, was a great one! Highlights included:

🤖 Attending advanced skills training course on AI. I can’t wait to implement her many tips and tricks into my workflow!

🎬 Listening in on an array of interesting sessions on subtitling. spoke on the commonalities between subtitling and interpreting, and Jennifer Ho spoke on how audiovisual translators can help filmmakers during pre-production!

🎥 Being interviewed for this year’s conference wrap-up video! I’ll share once it goes live.

📚 Handing out the award to this year’s School Outreach Contest winner, .

😊 And what can I say? Spending time with old friends and making new ones is always the biggest highlight of the year…

Today’s release day! I created the Spanish to English pivot template and English subtitles for The Last Night at Tremore Beach, a mini series launching today on Netflix!

Title and genre:
🇪🇸 La última noche en Tremor
🇺🇸 The Last Night at Tremore Beach
😱 Thriller

✍ Summary:
When a tormented pianist is struck by lightning, he begins having perilous visions of his future and a deadly threat seems to loom over his loved ones.

⛰️ My favorite part:
It’s filmed in Asturias, Spain, the region I called home for 14 years. They filmed scenes in the most charming towns and breathtaking landscapes Asturias has to offer. (Accompanied with plenty of Asturian rain and gray skies!)

🥴 The most challenging part:
There are a lot of flashbacks in this series, and I worked on the episodes out of order.

📽️ Check out the trailer with my English subtitles: https://lnkd.in/e7jjiGcX

If you watch it, let me know what you think of both the landscapes and the thrilling storyline!

Happy (belated!) International Translation Day!

Today, I want to thank our wonderful profession for giving me the opportunity to do a job that feels as much a part of my identity as my own name.

I went to Spanish immersion school as a kid, studied Spanish and interpreting in college, moved to Spain to teach English, and ended up translating on the side. After six years, I left teaching to focus entirely on tourism translation, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It allowed me to use my knowledge of Spanish history and culture, frequently featured in the texts I translated. Then the pandemic hit, and my business took a downturn.

I had some spare time on my hands, so I enrolled in a subtitling course and discovered a new passion in the translation world. This specialization perfectly matched my skills: a deep understanding of Spanish slang, jokes, culture, and politics—all while watching TV, which I love!

Running a small business and freelancing can be tough. The ups and downs in my career have been as thrilling as they’ve been challenging, but I love traveling and moving around, and I love being the boss of my own time. This profession has made working from home and being my own boss not only possible but a significant asset to my business. It’s helped me build a life and lifestyle I love. I move around and spend time working from all my favorite places in the world. Last night, I landed in Spain, and am back to my Spanish office. Today, I’ll be working on subtitling a Galician comedy that I can’t wait to tell you all about when it launches this fall or winter.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my mini-novel! 😂 If you’re also passionate about our profession, I’d love to hear what makes your translator heart beat in the comments…

WHO IS BEHIND YURICK TRANSLATIONS?

My name is Molly Yurick. I’m a Minnesota native, but Spaniards constantly mistake me for a local. And that’s because I’ve spent a lifetime crafting my Spanish language skills. I love salsa dancing, skiing and hiking, but traveling is my #1 free-time priority. I’ve explored and wandered around 32 countries (and counting)! Oh, and I always make a point to visit to my hometown in Minnesota at least twice a year.

EDUCATION

· My monolingual parents bravely enrolled me in Spanish immersion school… long before it was the cool thing to do. Thanks to them, I’ve been speaking Spanish fluently since I was just five years old.

· I finished a double major in Spanish and global studies alongside a certificate in interpreting in just four years.
