I was helping a Utah contractor last month figure out why they weren't getting calls from their website. Took me about 30 seconds to find the problem.

Their phone number was buried in the footer. In small text. At the very bottom of the page.

If someone wanted to call them, they had to scroll all the way down, squint to find it, and hope they copied it right. Most people just didn't bother.

Here's what blows my mind: businesses spend thousands on a website, hundreds on ads to drive traffic, and then make it nearly impossible for people to actually contact them.

Your phone number should be visible on every single page. Top right corner. Click to call on mobile. No hunting required.

Same thing with your contact form. Don't hide it under three menu clicks. Make it easy. Make it obvious.

Think about how people actually use websites on their phone. They're busy. They're distracted. They're probably doing three other things at once. If contacting you takes more than two taps, they're moving on to someone else.

You worked hard to get them to your site. Don't lose them at the finish line because they couldn't figure out how to reach you.

Your homepage has about 5 seconds to answer one question: "Is this what I'm looking for?"

If the answer isn't immediately obvious, people leave. They don't dig through your menu. They don't scroll looking for clues. They just hit the back button.

I see this all the time with Utah businesses. Beautiful websites. Great services. But the homepage tries to say everything at once, so it ends up saying nothing clearly.

Here's what happens: you've got your mission statement, a photo slideshow, links to every service you offer, testimonials, your history, and three different calls to action. It's overwhelming. Visitors don't know where to look or what to do next.

Your homepage needs one clear message. What do you do? Who do you help? What should they do next?

That's it. Everything else is noise.

Think about it this way: if someone landed on your homepage right now and had 5 seconds to decide if they're in the right place, would they know? Or would they be confused about what you actually offer?

The businesses that win online make it dead simple. Clear headline. Clear benefit. Clear next step. No guessing required.

A Utah business owner told me they kept getting complaints that their contact form wasn't working. Turns out it had been broken for three months. Three months of potential customers trying to reach them and getting nothing.

Here's the thing about websites: they break quietly. A plugin updates. A form stops working. A page throws an error. And unless you're actively checking, you have no idea it's happening.

Meanwhile, people are trying to contact you, trying to schedule appointments, trying to buy from you, and they just... can't. So they leave. And they don't come back.

Broken links, dead contact forms, missing images, pages that won't load on mobile. These aren't just annoying technical issues. They're literally costing you money every single day they go unfixed.

The worst part? Your customers won't tell you. They'll just assume you don't care or you're not professional, and they'll go somewhere else.

Regular website maintenance isn't optional. It's like changing the oil in your car. Skip it long enough and eventually something breaks down at the worst possible time.

If you haven't actually tested every page, every form, every button on your site in the last month, there's a decent chance something's broken right now.

Here's something most Utah business owners don't realize: if your website takes longer than 3 seconds to load, you've already lost half your visitors.

They didn't stick around to see your services. They didn't read about why you're different. They just hit the back button and went to your competitor's site instead.

And here's the frustrating part: you might not even know it's happening. You're on your office WiFi, so your site loads fine for you. But your customers? They're on their phone, maybe with spotty service, and your site is crawling.

Page speed isn't just about user experience anymore. Google actually uses it as a ranking factor. A slow site gets ranked lower, which means fewer people find you in the first place. It's a double hit.

The good news? This is usually fixable. Compress your images. Clean up your code. Get rid of plugins or features you're not actually using. Sometimes simple tweaks make a massive difference.

If you're not sure how fast your site actually loads for real visitors, that's something we help Utah County businesses figure out and fix.

This is one of the most confusing situations for business owners right now.

You check your Google rankings. You're on page one. Maybe even in the top three. Everything looks great. But when you check your actual traffic and leads, something's off. The numbers don't match what they used to.

So what's happening?

Google's AI is now answering questions directly and recommending businesses it considers authorities, not just showing a list of websites that rank well. Your ranking position matters less than whether Google's AI sees you as trustworthy and expert enough to recommend.

It's like the difference between being on a shelf in a store versus being the product the store clerk personally recommends to customers. Both are visible, but one gets way more action.

This is why some Utah businesses with "worse" rankings are getting more traffic than businesses ranked above them. The AI is bypassing traditional rankings and making its own recommendations based on authority signals.

If your rankings look solid but your traffic dropped, this is probably why. And the fix isn't buying more backlinks or obsessing over keywords. It's building genuine authority that AI platforms recognize and trust.

We help Utah County businesses figure out exactly where the disconnect is and what to do about it. If this sounds familiar, let's talk.

Think about the last time you wanted to know what something was. Did you try to describe it in a search bar? Or did you just take a picture and let your phone figure it out?

If its the latter, that may be exactly what your customers are doing.
Someone drives past a business and photographs the sign. Someone sees a product they like and uses Google Lens to find it. Someone's at a restaurant and snaps a photo of a dish to find the recipe or where to buy ingredients.

Most Utah businesses have zero strategy for this. They optimized their website for text searches and called it done. Meanwhile, half the people looking for them are using their camera.

Here's the thing: adding alt text to images isn't the same as visual search optimization. Visual search means Google's AI can identify your business, your products, your work in real world photos and connect people to you.

If someone photographs your storefront or your product, can Google tell them who you are and how to contact you? For most businesses, the answer is no.

This isn't some future trend. It's happening right now. And the businesses that figure it out first are going to have a serious advantage in Utah County.

Have you been looking at your stats and thought... "Our Google traffic is down, but we're actually getting more leads. What's going on?"

People aren't finding you the same way they used to. Five years ago, most customers typed something into Google, scrolled through results, and clicked a link. Now? They ask an AI for recommendations. They use Google Lens to identify what they're looking at. They speak into their phone while driving.

Your traffic didn't disappear. The path people take to find you completely changed.
And honestly? The customers coming through these new channels are often better. They've already heard your business mentioned or recommended. They're not cold traffic clicking around. They're warm leads who've been told you're worth checking out.

If you're only measuring success by traditional Google clicks, you're missing the bigger picture. The game changed. The businesses adapting are growing. The ones stubbornly optimizing for 2020 are confused about why things aren't working.
Want to understand where your traffic is actually coming from now? That's exactly what we help Utah County businesses figure out.

Should I care about AI search, or is that just hype?

Many Utah County business owners are asking this. Here's my honest take.
When someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for a recommendation in your industry, does your business come up? For most local businesses right now, the answer is no. And that's a problem because more people are starting their search there instead of Google.

The good news is you don't need a completely different strategy for every new AI platform. You need to build something that works everywhere: real expertise, original insights, and content that proves you know what you're talking about.

If you focus on being genuinely helpful and establishing authority in your space, you'll show up whether someone's asking Google, ChatGPT, or whatever comes next. Chase shortcuts and you'll be rebuilding your strategy every six months.

We help Utah businesses build that kind of foundation. Not tricks. Not hacks. Just solid authority that gets you recommended by AI and trusted by people.

Google has gotten way smarter about what actually makes a business trustworthy and relevant. These days, it's looking for real signs that people know and talk about your brand, not just whether you paid someone to link to your site.

At LeadVine Marketing, we help Utah businesses build actual authority through content that connects, social presence that engages, and strategies that hold up when algorithms change (because they always do).

We're not interested in shortcuts that stop working in six months. We focus on what actually builds your business for the long term.

Want to know where your brand stands and what would actually move the needle? Reach out and let's take an honest look together.

Have you noticed fewer people clicking through to your website lately, even though you're still showing up in search results?

You're not imagining it. Google's AI now answers a lot of questions directly in the search results, so people never even make it to your site.

The solution isn't to panic. It's to adapt. At LeadVine Marketing, we focus on making sure your business is the answer that shows up, not just another link people scroll past. We help local Utah businesses adjust their strategy so they stay visible and relevant, even as the way search works keeps changing.

If your website traffic has dropped and you're not sure why, let's figure it out together and get you back on track.

Most marketing agencies are still doing things the way they did five years ago. But here's the truth: the way people find businesses has completely changed.

Your customers are searching for what they need on social media just as much as they're using Google. And if you're not set up for that, you're basically invisible to a big part of your audience.

At LeadVine Marketing, we help Utah businesses show up strong everywhere people are actually searching, not just where marketing used to happen. Whether you're trying to reach younger customers or just want your phone to ring more often, we build strategies that actually connect with the people looking for you.
