THE REBRAND ERA: LIL JON — FROM CRUNK TO CALM

After decades of defining the sound of an era, he realized the noise around him didn’t match the peace he wanted within. Touring, intensity, and the lifestyle took a toll — and burnout hit even the man who powered the party.

So he shifted his focus inward.
Meditation. Clean living. Fitness.
A new lane — rooted in discipline, clarity, and self-awareness.

He didn’t erase his past — he balanced it.
Crunk was outward energy.
Mindfulness became inward mastery.

Lil Jon proved that reinvention isn’t contradiction — it’s growth.
And that you can redefine yourself without abandoning who the world met first.

When your evolution becomes intentional, your identity becomes unstoppable.

The Rebrand Era: Jessica Alba — The Honest Transition

Jessica Alba didn’t “leave Hollywood.”
She evolved past it.

At the height of her acting career, she realized the real impact she wanted to make wasn’t on screen — it was in the everyday products families were using without transparency or trust.
Motherhood shifted her perspective. Purpose reshaped her direction.

She built The Honest Company from frustration, research, and a mission:
clean ingredients, clear labels, and safer options for real people.

A billion-dollar brand — rooted in responsibility, not celebrity.

Jessica showed that a true rebrand isn’t a pivot… it’s alignment.
When your values become your business, your work becomes your legacy.

The Rebrand Era: Virgil Abloh | The Remix Blueprint

Some creators make products.
Others make culture.
Virgil Abloh did both — at the same time.

The Rebrand Era is about transformation:
how identity, intention, and design collide to reshape entire industries.
And few shifted the world’s language like Virgil Abloh.

From architecture to fashion, he built a career out of curiosity.
Pyrex Vision was dismissed — until it wasn’t.
It became the spark that proved disruption could come from a simple idea printed with conviction.

But the real rebrand came when he birthed Off-White —
not just a brand, but a new dictionary.
Quotation marks, diagonals, zip ties…
symbols that turned simplicity into a global design language.

And when his first Nike collection, “The Ten,” dropped?
The world paused.
Sneakers became artifacts.
Design became conversation.
Virgil wasn’t following luxury — he was rewriting it.

This isn’t just about fashion.
It’s about possibility.
About showing a generation that ideas are currency,
and creativity is power when paired with intention.

Virgil’s legacy reminds us:
you don’t need permission to innovate.
You just need vision — and the courage to build boldly.

The Rebrand Era: Rihanna | Empire in Her Image

Some rebrands happen to survive.
Others redefine the entire industry.

The Rebrand Era is about transformation — that moment when identity and vision collide, and creation becomes legacy.
And few have embodied that more powerfully than

From island girl to global icon, Rihanna ruled the charts, the runways, and the red carpets.
But when she stepped away from the stage, she wasn’t fading — she was forming.
Years of silence became strategy.
While the world waited for music, she was composing something far louder:
a beauty revolution.

Fenty Beauty didn’t just launch — it shifted culture.
Forty foundation shades shattered an industry built on exclusion.
Her message wasn’t just “everyone deserves to be seen” — it was “this is what power looks like when we all are.”

From pop star to CEO, from muse to mogul, Rihanna turned her reflection into representation.
She didn’t sell products — she sold perspective.
And in doing so, she redefined what luxury means: authenticity, empathy, and inclusion at scale.

Because this isn’t about makeup — it’s about ownership.
It’s about knowing when to evolve, when to pause, and when to build the empire in your own image.

Behind the Design — Episode 1: “Wake County’s Finest”

For the first episode, I wanted to kick things off with something that really represents the home turf. This is the official cover art I designed for Madison Jay’s album Wake County’s Finest — a statement piece for and the culture that raised us.

The concept pulls inspiration from illmatic — that idea of being a product of your environment while standing proudly in front of it. I wanted to merge that same nostalgic, gritty feel with modern southern pride. The cover symbolizes Raleigh looking back at itself: the city behind him, the crown in his stance, the story in his expression.

I created the art in , layering photography, texture, and shadow to blend Madison into the skyline like he’s part of the city itself. Every element — from the font choice to the lighting — was meant to feel raw, unapologetic, and timeless.

The video edit was done in Premiere, scored to Madison Jay’s “7 Heads, 10 Horns” (produced by Q100 Beatz) to bring the energy full circle.

This episode sets the tone for what Behind the Design is about — showing the heart, inspiration, and intention that goes into every visual. Not just design for the sake of aesthetics, but storytelling through culture, art, and identity.

In Development at Hillmen Studios
New stories. New designs. New worlds.

Over the last few months, we’ve been building more than a studio — we’ve been shaping a vision. Hillmen Studios was founded on one idea: that design means more when it’s built with story, strategy, and culture at its core.

Now, that vision is coming to life.
From original IP like Tylan the Lion to cultural design series like The Rebrand Era, we’re developing work that moves beyond visuals — into worlds, narratives, and legacy.

We’re not chasing trends.
We’re creating timeless ideas that live in culture.

Welcome to the next chapter.

“Great design alone isn’t enough — it has to mean something.”

That’s the foundation of Hillmen Studios. Too often, brands chase trends or pretty visuals, but the impact doesn’t last. I’ve seen how powerful culture, story, and strategy can be when they’re built into design from the start.

That’s why Hillmen Studios exists: to create original IP like Gapboy and Tylan the Lion, while also helping brands, campaigns, and creatives build visuals that actually connect.

One vision, two strengths — original stories of our own, and services that help others stand out.

The future is storytelling, and we’re here to build worlds that last.
