Hey does this altar look familiar? That’s what the Lone Fir Cemetery Foundation (not to be confused with Friends of Lone Fir) would like to know. “Previously, the site included a large concrete altar with a marble center that was used by community members to leave offerings to their departed loved ones. Archeological research efforts to locate pieces of the altar in the ground have been unsuccessful. Now, the community is being asked to speak up if they have a piece of the altar in their possession. ‘We want to put out the call to our community, in case maybe someone’s family saved the panel before the cemetery was bulldozed,’ said Marcus Lee, a board member for the Lone Fir Cemetery Foundation. ‘It would be wonderful if we could retrieve it — or even parts of it.’ Anyone with information on the missing altar is asked to contact the Lone Fir [Cemetery] Foundation directly.” —via KOIN6
P.S. The Tomb-Sweeping Festival (Qingming) is tomorrow, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Lone Fir.

You may have seen this story via NPR, Washington Post, or even the BBC. The removal of pages and references to Black, Hispanic, and women Veterans on Arlington National Cemetery’s website was first reported by Matt White of Task & Purpose. The link to his article in the comments here shows a webpage comparison from December 2024 to March 2025.

Do you have a Facebook and/or Instagram Business page? Did you know there are two places where you can assign admins? The Columbia Gorge Humane Society page has been taken over since they did not have control over their Meta Business Manager account. Be sure to check your Meta Business Manager account settings, not just the Page admin settings. Contact me if you need help.

Adorable puppy photos flooded the Columbia Gorge Humane Society’s page. The problem? Hackers put them there as bait.
