Motion Control – Fluidline Bearings Available from LM76 are FDA/USDA/3A-Dairy Compliant!

Motion Control – Thermoplastic Linear Bearings

E. Longmeadow, MA — Motion Control – Linear Motion Bearings – FDA/USDA/3A compliant bearings, Seals, Shafting, and Pillow Blocks are available from LM76.

LM76 Fluidline BearingsTM are long wearing thermoplastic polyester self lubricating, low coefficient of friction, light weight linear bearings. Available off-the-shelf in standard closed inch sizes (closed metric sizes are available on request) these bearings drop-in replacements for standard linear bearings. They are highly resistant to wash-down chemicals and high energy radiation such as gamma and x-rays.

These motion control bearings exhibit very good dimensional stability, and creep resistance, excellent stain resistance, and physiologically inert and therefore suitable for food contact. They work well on stainless steel shafting and on the less expensive ceramic coated aluminum shafting also available from LM76.

Also available from LM76 are other FDA/USDA/3A compliant low cost linear bearings, in open and closed styles, compliant scrapers, stainless steel pillow blocks, and stainless steel and ceramic coated shafting.

Motion Control – High Precision Three-axis Stages Adds A New Dimension to Pitch and Roll Stages … … Lift!

Motion Control – ZGG Stage – Lift Plus Dual Goniometers

Motion Control – New High Precision Three-axis ZGG-60-10-15 Series of Lift, Pitch, and Roll Stages have been released by Optimal Engineering Systems, Inc. (OES). These compact motion control stages feature 60 mm +/- 2 mm (2.362 in. +/- 0.078 in.) of vertical travel.

See the ZGG Stage in Action Click on the Youtube Link – https://youtu.be/I7YQ3LycIwA

The scissor lift design combined with precision roller bearings and slide rails assures smooth motion and very high parallelism throughout the raising and lowering of the table. The Pitch and Roll angles are created by two goniometers with +/- 10 degrees of travel (pitch) and +/- 15 degrees of travel (roll).

The integration of the vertical lift and goniometers enhances the identifying crystals, examining cutting edges of medical instruments, estimating hyperspectral bidirectional reflectance, gloss measurements, measurements of radiation patterns of LEDs, directing lasers, aligning mirrors, and manufacturing of quartz oscillator plates using quartz cutting x-rays.

The Motion Control ZGG-60-10-15-01 (shown) is driven by a Two-Phase Stepper Motor with micro-stepping capabilities. The vertical repeatability is typically +/- 5 microns and typical positional accuracy is 15 microns. Option ZGG-60-10-15-04 is driven with a stepper motor and has a Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoder for position verification.

The ZGG-60-10-15-02 is driven by a Three-Phase Brushless Servo Motor with a Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoder, and the ZGG-60-10-15-03 is driven by a DC Brushed Servo Motor with a Quadrature Incremental Optical Encoder. The Servo Motor options provide sub-micron repeatability and positional accuracy typical of a closed loop system, and higher travel speeds.

These stages require a Motion Controller that can be ordered as a complete plug-and-play system with RS-232, USB, joystick, trackball, and keypad control.

Motion Control – Electric Cylinder Has Zero Cogging and High Throughput!

Motion Control – Zero Cogging Electric Cylinder

Van Nuys, CA – Motion Control – Components -– Moticont has added another non-commutated linear actuator to its DDLM series of low cost actuators. This new DDLM-019-070-01 Linear Actuator can develop 10.1 oz (2.8 N) of continuous force and 32.1 oz (8.9 N) of peak force at 10% duty cycle. Having a stroke of 0.960 in. (24.4 mm), this clean, fully enclosed linear actuator, also referred to as an electric cylinder is ideal for use in critical medical applications.

Measuring just 0.750 in. (19.1 mm) in. diameter with a housing length of 2.750 in. (44.5 mm) long, this zero cogging, bi-directional actuator is easily integrated into new and existing applications. Each end of the shaft is threaded for direct coupling of the actuator to the load resulting in zero backlash allowing for smooth, high speed positioning, and high acceleration/deceleration resulting in greater throughput.

The 0.125 in. (3.2 mm) diameter shaft has an internal thread on each end, a total of length of 4.960 in (126.0 mm), and extends 1.585 in. (40.3 mm) past the mounting end of the actuator. The shaft extends thru the 3/8-32 UNF x 0.250 (6.4 mm) long threaded studs at each end of the housing which can be used for mounting the DDL-019-070-01 linear actuator. Long life plain linear bearings support the internal shaft at both end of the actuator.

Highly controllable force, stroke length and speed, low noise, and maintenance free, the DDLM-019-070-01 can be used with a position sensor and controller for the high repeatability and accuracy of a closed loop application.
