A design that looks great on your monitor doesn’t always translate to screen printing, embroidery, or a promotional product, and that’s a lesson I learned firsthand designing artwork for apparel for over a decade.
Line weights that disappear in print. Colors that don’t separate cleanly for screen printing. Details too fine for a small embroidered logo. These are things you really only learn by watching a design actually get produced.
Part of what you get with an experienced designer is someone who’s thinking about where your artwork is going before it ever gets there- apparel, signage, packaging, or print, so it works the first time.

A logo doesn’t just live on a business card anymore, it lives on Instagram, in Reels, on a website loading screen, in a video intro. That’s part of why I’ve been leaning into motion graphics lately, both in client work and in the classroom.
Adding movement to a logo or brand mark isn’t about making something flashy. Done well, it adds another layer to the story a brand is already telling, the same way a good tagline or color palette does.
If your brand identity has been sitting still, there’s a whole other dimension worth exploring. Curious what that could look like for your business? [email protected]

Ever wonder what actually happens between “I need a logo” and getting your final files?
Here’s a peek behind the curtain: it starts with questions: about your business, your customers, and what you want people to feel when they see your brand. Then sketches. Then revisions. And somewhere in there, a brand guide comes together so your colors, fonts, and logo variations are all in one place for years to come.
It’s not just picking pretty colors. It’s building something that works as hard as you do.
Got a project in mind? Let’s talk — [email protected].

Quick question I get a lot: “Don’t I just need a logo?” Maybe! But a logo and a brand aren’t the same thing.
A logo is your mark, the icon or wordmark people recognize. Branding is everything around it: your colors, fonts, voice, and the guide that keeps all of it consistent as your business grows.
Think of it this way: a logo tells people who you are in one glance. Branding tells them what you’re about, every time they see you.
If you’re just getting started, a logo might be exactly what you need. If you’re ready to build something people remember, branding gets you there.

Can you actually own the logo you’re using for your business? 👀

It’s something a lot of small business owners probably don’t think about when they’re creating a logo with AI or grabbing an icon from Canva.

Purely AI-generated artwork generally isn’t eligible for copyright protection in the U.S. And Canva’s licensing specifically restricts its Free and Pro Content from being used as part of a trademark.

That doesn’t mean these tools are bad—I use technology in my own creative process, too. It means how they’re used matters.

When you hire a designer, you’re not just paying someone to make something look pretty. You’re working with someone who can create original artwork, think about how your logo will function across different applications, build a cohesive visual identity, and help you make informed decisions about the assets you’re building your business around.

Your logo isn’t just a graphic.

It’s the foundation of your brand. Build it intentionally.

As many of you know, I’m back in school at CVTC pursuing degrees in Marketing and Digital Marketing. This past semester was a doozy, but I’m happy to report that final grades are in (and have been for a while... I just forgot to post about it 😅).

The good news? I finished the semester strong, and I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and bringing new skills into both my marketing and design work.

Continuing my education has always been important to me, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to challenge myself and expand my knowledge. Onward to the next semester! 📚✨
