🐄🧀 From the vat to the carton, we’ve done it all.

We’re celebrating some of the dairy categories we’ve had our hands in: cheese, yogurt, fluid milk, flavored milk, whip, cream, and everything in between. If it comes from a cow (or the creative minds behind it), chances are we’ve helped tell its story.

Don't tell our moms we played with our food. 🍎🎨

Our creative team traded brushes for bell peppers, keyboards for quartered cabbages, and turned produce into paint stamps. Carrot stripes. Celery swirls. A cabbage that printed better than we expected.

But then again we always knew gardens make the best the mood boards.

What We Did This Summer (Agency 29 Edition)

This summer, we helped Fee Brothers, Inc. launch Fat Washes, ran the Farmer in the Fridge campaign for Maola Milk, and brought Say Cheese Vermont to life for the Vermont Dairy Promotion Council.

We also made some new friends, onboarded new clients, and we've already got plans for the year ahead.

And somehow, we still made time to get outdoors, to spend time with friends and family and animals. Turns out good work and good times aren't mutually exclusive.

10/10, would recommend this summer to a friend.

"Make sure that what you're doing is wildly different from everyone else." 🍷

In this episode, Maureen sits down with Erin McMurrough, founder of Little Clover Wine Company, to talk tasting rooms and quickly gets to the heart of what makes one actually work.

It's easy to point to nuance: a different grower relationship, a slightly different method, a subtle spin on tradition. Those things matter. But as Maureen points out, nuance alone won't get a consumer to your door.

When Erin shares her trailer and pop-up concept, Maureen runs with it, connecting the dots between differentiation, mobility, and brand recognition in real time. That's what makes her such a compelling host: she doesn't just ask good questions, she helps guests see the bigger strategy inside their own idea.

Don't build the campaign yet. Ask the questions first.

Not because we love surveys (though, okay, we kind of do). But because the best creative, the smartest brand positioning, and the campaigns that actually move people all start with the same thing: understanding who you're talking to and what they actually care about.

We've run vineyard surveys for a statewide advocacy group, focus groups to help a dairy co-op get sharper on their audience personas, stakeholder research for major higher education institutions, and community focus groups that shaped the rebrands for our clients.

Different industries. Different goals. Same starting point: listen first, build second.

Here's a look at what that research actually uncovered, and why it mattered. →

Maureen has a way of making a guest feel heard, then guiding them straight to the heart of the thing.

In this clip, she's talking with Colleen Hardy of Living Roots Wine & Co. about an industry-wide challenge (consumption is down across wineries in the Finger Lakes and beyond), and where she lands is the real insight: instead of waiting it out, lean into your best customers and find more people like them.

This is the kind of conversation that makes Spilled Salt worth tuning into. Real industry challenges, real listening, and Maureen's gift for clearing the narrative to get to what actually matters.

We're accepting applications for the next season now. If you've got a perspective worth sharing (or a question you're working through), we want to hear it.

Some books check you. Some books wreck you.

These are the formative titles that shook our team. The ones that rearranged how we think, work, or see the world. Not always comfortable reads. Always worth it.

👇 Your turn: what's one book that changed the way you think or live? Drop it in the comments. We're building our next reading list from this thread.

Part of what makes Maureen an award-winning podcast host is how she speaks the language of the food, beverage, and agriculture industries. She lives this work, chatting regularly with industry leaders, attending and speaking at events and even going on factory tours.

So when a guest like John Eaton of UltraPhil sits down with her, she is able to share her knowledge and expertise in a way that resonates.
