If you’re new here, hi 👋🏼 I’m Jen!

The creative behind Keeping Up in Rockford… but really just a busy mom, wife, and small business owner who loves this little corner of the world.

I started this page in a season where I was craving connection.
The “where should we take the kids today I’m going insane?”
The “what’s actually worth trying for date night?”
The “I just want to feel like I belong here” kind.

Because even in a town as special as Rockford, it can still feel lonely sometimes. We all are in different seasons of life!

I wanted a space that made it easier.
Easier to find things to do.
Easier to discover & support local businesses.
Easier to meet people, show up, and feel part of something.

And somewhere along the way…
this page became more than I ever expected.

It became:
✨ conversations in the DMs turned friends IRL
✨ moms meeting up & grabbing coffee for the first time
✨ small businesses being seen and supported
✨ a reminder that community is still alive and well here

Keeping Up in Rockford isn’t just about events or restaurants or “what’s new.” It’s about people.
It’s about showing up for where we live and the people in it.

Spaces like that truly see and support moms.

And women like for giving us the ultimate gift of self care and reminding me that I deserve it even when I don’t feel like I have the time.

🦋 Butterflies Are Blooming March 1st, 2026!

One of the most anticipated Grand Rapids events of the season is back at Meijer Gardens. It truly feels like stepping into another world.

This is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibit in the United States, filling the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory with hundreds of butterflies and moths in a lush, tropical environment.

You’ll walk through warm air, vibrant greenery, and watch butterflies flutter right past you (and sometimes land on you if you’re lucky 🥹).

It’s a chance to experience the intricate beauty, color, and movement of these incredible creatures up close…and it never gets old, whether you’re going for the first time or the fifteenth.

✨ Free for members with I.D.

Perfect for a spring break outing, a weekday mom date, or a “we just need to get out of the house” adventure!
