It probably wasn't personal, and it probably wasn't laziness either. Most of the time, it comes down to one thing: they didn't have a process.
A designer who's winging it can't be consistent. They don't have a clear next step for every stage of a project, so when things get murky, they stall. They genuinely don't know what to do next. A designer without a plan is a designer who will likely go quiet at some point in the project.
A real process changes everything. From the first inquiry, through hiring, onboarding, the actual work, and a clean handoff at the end, EVERY stage has a next step already mapped out. That's what lets a designer show up consistently. It's what removes the guesswork on your end too - you're never left wondering where things stand, because there's a system carrying the project forward instead of a person hoping they'll get to it eventually.
So if your last designer ghosted you, it probably wasn't about you. It was about the fact that they never built a process that could hold them accountable and produce the results they promised you.
I've been doing this for over two decades, and I've got exactly a 100% record of *not* ghosting. I've built a process that's tight, tested, and actually works with real projects - no guesswork, no dropped communication. I'd love to hear about where your brand's been and help you discover where it could go next. -L
