Had the joy of doing a portrait session with this amazing woman, at Sparkle On the Rocks. ( full disclosure I may or may not be married to said powerhouse consultant, perhaps even for 10 years!! Who’s to say?)

Anyway, Abbey is leading a FREE three-month collective learning experience for nonprofit folks who want to reimagine how we work, lead, and care together. it’s called WINTER ROOTS and it will be a wonderful, safe space to reimagine how we work together, with curiosity at the center of it all.

Interested? Head to my bio to get on the waiting list to learn more. DID I MENTION IS FREE?! (There’s also opportunities for those with means to sponsor the good work done here to help it be sustainable.)

Angered yet again by decisions by our current administration. Here’s hoping and can continue to do the good work to standing up to this disruption for disruptions sake only to throw our communities into disarray, terror, and sadness. I don’t know if this will have any impact, but we have to do something right? However small.

The first paragraph comes from Vanessa Enriquez-Rios on Bluesky.

Dear State Senators and Representatives,

My name is Justin Jankus, and I’m a constituent from Wallingford. I’m writing to express my deep concern about President Trump’s recent executive orders directing federal agencies to withhold congressionally appropriated funds. These actions appear to violate the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 and undermine the Constitution’s separation of powers.

While you do not make decisions on federal level, much of the funding for our state comes from federal funds. I am a Selectboard Member for Wallingford and see first hand the impacts that federal funds have had on our community, to take that away, even momentarily, could drastically negatively effect my, and your, community. I hope you will stand beside your neighbors and do what you can to call out this possibly unconstitutional act.

I don’t presume to know who you voted for in the last election, but I would hope that you would see that this disruption to organizations and municipalities, even if temporary, is unnecessary and unkind to the people these organizations serve, and the tax payers that put their hard earned money into a system that is supposed to benefit them.

Sincerely,
Justin Jankus

Anyone in the area of West Pawlet/Pawlet be on the lookout for this lunatic who escaped from her boarder in West Pawlet while we are visiting family on the West Coast. Babs is very gentle but very shy, about 27lbs. She doesn’t not have her collar on, she does have a Seresto tick collar on. If seen please get in touch with me here or my dad Jordan Jankus

When I wrote this in 2020, I had no idea that in just 4 years we would be voting to decide if this man will lead our country again. This fact alone is insane. Thinking that people I love have voted for this man twice, and want to vote for him again, is insane. Thinking that this race is so close that no one has an accurate outcome, is insane.
Some things have changed since this was written: Roe v Wade has been stripped as the law of the land, resulting in avoidable deaths of pregnant mothers; I now have two amazing children, their futures and present at the front of my mind; the Republican candidate has been convicted for 34 felony counts, and indicted in many more; we have emerged from the struggles of COVID (its still present, just normalized) divided and hurting but perhaps with a sense of hope; Jessie is 45 and officially under the care of New York State; incited by the former president, rioters forced their way into the Capitol, chanting to hang Mike Pence.
And yet here we are, repeating a choice I thought we had gotten out of our system. Choosing between a figure that could smash the pattern of old white men leading and serve as a beacon of hope to my children; and a man that is the walking epitome of a shyster. How have we found ourselves here? How can we move forward?
We vote.
