At just 9 years old, Andrew’s life changed in an instant. What started as a fall and a growing lump on his neck quickly turned into a diagnosis no family is ever prepared to hear: cancer. Within weeks, treatment began for 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟯 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗕-𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗟𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮.

Andrew shared, “I thought that no one made it through cancer.” But even in the face of fear, he held onto his motto: “One foot in front of the other.”

Today, Andrew is 11 years old, in remission, and according to his mom, he is “rocking life right now.”

Through it all, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance has been there to support Andrew and his family with emotional, financial, and personalized care during this incredibly difficult time.

Today is World Cancer Day - and if I’m honest, it’s a day I wish didn’t have to exist.

Cancer has touched my life in deeply personal ways. I’ve walked alongside family members, friends, and members of my community through their battles - and I’ve also experienced the heartbreak of loss. Those experiences shaped my heart for advocacy and my desire to help bring hope, strength, and healing to warriors of all ages.

What I didn’t expect was how that passion would lead me to become closely connected with Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance. While much of my role happens behind the scenes, I have the privilege of witnessing the tireless, often unseen work the team pours into supporting families across our region. I see the dedication, the compassion, and the unwavering commitment to ensuring no child or family fights alone. I’ve also been blessed to meet many of the incredibly strong and inspiring families whose lives are touched by the generosity of our community.

So today, on World Cancer Day, my simple ask is this: take a moment to acknowledge this day. It’s one we all wish didn’t exist - but it’s one that deserves our awareness, our compassion, and our collective support. 💛

🎗Today, February 4th, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance joins the global community in recognizing 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆 - a powerful reminder of why our journey began: to bring 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲, 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 to families facing childhood cancer.

Hearing the words “your child has cancer” is devastating. In an instant, life changes forever. On this day, we honor the incredible strength and resilience of our young warriors, their families, and caregivers, and we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring no family walks this journey alone.

As we stand united with advocates worldwide, we renew our promise to provide 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹, 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 to children battling cancer throughout Northern California - so every family knows they are surrounded by a caring, compassionate community.

This morning my beautiful grandmother was reunited with her beloved. I know my Grandfather was dancing with delight as he welcomed his true love Home. I miss them both, but take comfort in knowing they are together watching over all of us ~ 1.3.26 🙏💞

🎉18 years ago today YOU made me a mom, blessing me in ways I never imagined. I’ve loved being a part of all your adventures, cheering from the sidelines, encouraging you, guiding you, and watching you. You are remarkable, and I can’t wait for all of the adventures ahead. I love you Dalton!!🥰

It's been 24 years since 9/11. I've stopped multiple times today to remember, to reflect, and to pray. It is the greatest tragedy I have ever experienced and one that I pray does not repeat.

🕯Remembering 9/11 and all of the heroes we lost that day, as well as those that survived and their families that carry all of the horrific memories of everything they witnessed.

I pray that the tragedy of 9/11 is never repeated, that we never forget that day, and that we can be UNITED not because of acts of cowards, but because we all realize what matters. 🇺🇸

Yearly I share the story of where I was on 9/11 and how this tragic day impacted me. I will continue to repeat this story every year as a reminder to NEVER FORGET.

The morning of 9/11 Guy and I were on vacation with his parents in Louisiana. We were at a friend's cabin on the lake. Guy and his Dad were out fishing and I was slowly waking up. Then I heard the phone ring. I immediately knew that something was wrong.
As I heard Guy's mom talking I jumped out of bed and she turned on the news just as the second tower was struck. We cried, held each other and rushed to the dock.

Guy and his Dad were just returning. We frantically told them what had happened and we all rushed back inside to watch the news as this reality slowly sank in.

I remember being in complete shock. We had to go into town that day and there were cars lined up at every single gas station. It seemed so unreal as everyone didn't know what to do, didn't know what to expect, felt scared, sad and angry.

For the remainder of our vacation, we remained solemn and honestly concerned about what potentially could happen next. Our return flight was delayed several days and the thought of getting onto a plane was terrifying.

It was bittersweet getting on the almost completely empty plane. I was afraid to leave the safety of the ground and the comfort of Guy's parents. I wanted to just be home with my family but thought of all the families that would never be the same.

In the days and months ahead I felt the strong sense of patriotism that swept over our nation. We were United! I truly felt that we were the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!! 🇺🇸

💛 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 to everyone that donated to my Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance Big Day of Giving fundraiser yesterday! In less than 24 hours you donated $𝟰𝟮𝟱, which added to the total $𝟵𝗞 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨!!!

These families are real and so are their needs. 𝗘𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 and I see first hand the impact that Keaton's has in customizing their supportive services for the entire family,so they can focus on the medical care their child needs.

I now have some work to do - creating 𝟴𝟱 "𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿" 𝗽𝗲𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻'𝘀. My little "peggies" started as a fun holiday project and now they've grown to much more. These dolls are crafted and created with love to remind these kiddos how loved they are!
