Thirty years ago, a courageous group of activists, patients, and advocates helped change history in Californiaā€”and the country.

This video honors the people who fought for Proposition 215, the Compassionate Use Act of 1996ā€”the groundbreaking measure that made California the first state in the nation to legalize medical cannabis.

At the 2026 California Cannabis Awards, these trailblazers were honored with the Pebbles Trippet Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing their extraordinary contributions to access, patient rights, and reform.

Their work was about more than cannabis. It was about dignity, access, and the belief that patients deserved another option.

As we approach the 30th anniversary of Prop. 215, we honor the people who made it possibleā€”and the legacy that continues three decades later.
