First day of September and the community is ramping up for the Mid-Autumn Moon celebration. We’re proud to highlight a local community-based organization, Little Saigon San Diego, turning cultural celebration into environmental action.

Through a community cleanup challenge, waste sorting competition, and community pledge, residents of all ages are learning simple, meaningful ways to reduce litter and prevent pollution from entering our storm drains and local waterways.

By bringing environmental education directly into trusted community spaces and cultural celebrations, local organizations are helping make sustainability more accessible, relevant, and fun — while empowering families to take action in their own neighborhoods.

Small actions can make a big difference. Together, we can celebrate our communities while helping keep our streets, storm drains, and waterways clean.

Last weekend, Solsken attended the San Diego Ho’olaule’a to connect with the community and share valuable resources from several California programs and agencies.

We helped raise awareness of EDD programs and services, including Paid Family Leave, Unemployment Insurance, State Disability Insurance, and employment services; shared information from California Community Colleges about higher education and career pathways that can help Californians Dream Big and build brighter economic futures; and connected residents with CalRecycle’s Recycling Reimagined initiative to promote better waste management, recycling, and a healthier California.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to engage with San Diego’s community and help make these important resources more accessible to the people they serve.

This month, the California Conservation Corps (CCC) celebrated 50 years of building resilience, developing future leaders, and transforming lives.

Solsken is proud to support the CCC in connecting young people with meaningful career pathways and hands-on training opportunities.
