4TH ANNUAL FILAM CREATIVE FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2026 LINEUP, CELEBRATING FILIPINO-AMERICAN STORYTELLING ACROSS FILM, CULTURE AND COMMUNITY

Three-day festival returns to feature Treasure of the Rice Terraces, Mabuhay, emerging Filipino-American filmmakers, Industry + Filmmaker panels, and Awards Night Gala at California State University, Los Angeles, heralding in Filipino American History Month.

LOS ANGELES, CA — September 24, 2026 — FilAm Creative, a nonprofit dedicated to educating, advocating for, and advancing the Filipino-American entertainment community, today announced the 4th Annual FilAm Creative Film Festival (FACFF), taking place October 2–4, 2026, at California State University, Los Angeles.

Led by 2026 Festival Director Charles Jon Gray, the three-day festival will celebrate Filipino and Filipino-American filmmakers and storytellers through feature films, short-film programs, industry panels, community programming, and an Awards Night Gala presented by Give Hope Studios.
“Filipino Cinema is exploding right now in 2026 and our diaspora is in need of connection and escape. The FilAm Creative Film Festival is burning bright with original stories and magic as we enter into this exciting new wave,” said Gray.

FACFF 2026 will open with the U.S. Premiere of Treasure of the Rice Terraces, directed by Kent Donguines, Khryz Donguines, and Nicolle Rufino. Following screenings at Canadian festivals including the Vancouver International Film Festival and ReelWorld Film Festival, the documentary explores the history and symbolism of Kalinga tattoos through the work of legendary tattoo artist Apo Whang-Od and her apprentices.
The film also examines the preservation of Kalinga tattoo culture and its significance to Filipinos in the Philippines and throughout the diaspora. Treasure of the Rice Terraces has received recognition including Honorable Mention for Best Documentary at Urbanworld 2025, a LEO Awards nomination in 2026, and Multicultural Winner at Yorktown Film Festival 2026.
