Who do you call when something breaks?

Two from my list. Herbert Roofing, family-owned out of Saginaw and roofing the Great Lakes Bay Region since 1973. And MichiganPro Home Inspections, inspecting homes across Michigan's Lower Peninsula since 2006, Bay County included. MichiganPro is a client. I'd send you there either way.

Plumber, electrician, mechanic, roofer, whoever actually shows up. Name them below and tag them so they see it.

This was a fun project for some of my favorite people! Give them a follow and go check out their new site.

DIY marketing stalls because the busy season always wins. Posting happens when the schedule is light and stops when it's full. The website sits untouched because nobody's actual job is to keep it going.

The owners I talk to have been posting and patching their own sites between jobs for years. Effort was never the problem. Ownership of the result was.

That's the job a part-time marketer fills: the work happens whether the schedule is full or not. When did your last post go out?

Midland, Bay City, and Saginaw, built one road at a time.

Every line in this is a real road or path in the three counties, drawn in the order you'd reach it driving out from each downtown. Highways first, then the neighborhoods fill in behind them. Watch for your town.

Every business in the region is somewhere on this map, from the shop on Main Street to the manufacturer at the edge of town. The ones that get the call are the ones people can find: on Google, on the map, and inside an AI assistant's answer.

Which Tri-Cities business deserves to be found by more people? Name them below.

Provable, standard two of four.

Capabilities, certifications, service areas, and real outcomes on the page in plain text. Nothing about licensing or certifications goes live without proof.

The standard cuts both ways. My newer clients don't have big numbers on my site yet, on purpose. The work compounds, and real numbers shown late beat inflated numbers shown early.

What's the one thing you can prove that your competitors only claim?

Spent part of Tuesday with the Do-All Inc. group at Eastern. High. School in Bay City for a hands-on Understanding Your AI workshop.

The challenge: build a startup in two hours.

Students created businesses, names, logos, branding, websites, and pitches using AI; including The Happy Human & Hound, JellyForce, Nightblade Studios, and Mac-N-Rack.

The biggest lesson wasn’t what AI could make. It was learning what humans still have to do:
AI is fast.
AI can be wrong.
You’re in charge.

A fun group with some seriously creative ideas.

What a buyer needs to see before sending an RFQ:

The processes you run and the materials you run them in. Part size ranges, tolerances, and volumes. Certifications, stated plainly. The industries you've served. What happens after they submit, and who responds. A way to send drawings without picking up the phone.

If those details live in a PDF or in a salesperson's head, the buyer moves on to the shop whose site answers the question. Which of the six is missing from your site?

Where do you take people who are visiting?

Two of my go-tos. Parlor Doughnuts on Euclid Avenue in Bay City, locally owned, layered doughnuts and a real coffee menu. And Live Oak Coffeehouse in Uptown, started in Midland in 2017 and roasting their own beans.

Where do you take out-of-town visitors around here? Local spots only. Name them below and tag them.

What I need from an owner: about an hour at kickoff, 30 minutes a month for the review, quick answers when I have a question, and a few phone photos of real jobs each month.

The photos come off a shot list I give you. The setup, the process, the finished result. That's why the content looks like your business instead of stock photography.

Which part of your work do customers never get to see?
