I almost built this company around the wrong thing.

I used to care way too much about whether a website looked impressive to other designers. Clean, minimal, award-bait stuff.

Then a San Antonio business owner looked at her own site and said, 'It looks fine. It just doesn't look like me.' And I haven't thought about web design the same way since.

My honest, possibly unpopular opinion: most web designers are building sites to impress each other, not to earn trust from your actual customers.

Your site should feel like YOU. Not like a template somebody else wore before you picked it up.

Agree with me or think I'm dead wrong? Tell me below. A if you agree, B if you think I'm off base.

San Antonio, back-to-school week means people are spending, booking, and hiring right now. Is your homepage ready to close that deal at 9 p.m. when they finally sit down and start Googling?

Here are 5 trust signals to check on your phone tonight. Takes under 10 minutes:

1. Phone number visible without scrolling on mobile
2. Your city or neighborhood named in the first sentence
3. At least one Google review shown or linked
4. A stranger knows what you do in five seconds flat
5. No dead links, old hours, or 'coming soon' sections from 2022

Now here's my question for you: guess how many of these five the average San Antonio small business website is missing right now. Drop your number below. I'll tell you what I actually see out in the wild.

This is the Monday Momentum Edition of my weekly Tuesday Tune-Up series. Follow for a new checklist every week.

You just spent your Sunday night cleaning off your desk, and it felt amazing, right?

Now do me a favor. Pull up your own website.

How many items are in your top menu? How many buttons is your homepage asking people to click? Can a stranger find your phone number without scrolling?

If your website navigation looks anything like that desk did an hour ago, you are quietly losing customers every single week. They land on your page, feel confused in about three seconds, and leave. No call. No form fill. Just gone.

The good news: you don't have to rebuild the whole thing. Usually it's one or two small cuts that make the biggest difference.

Comment CLUTTER and I'll personally reply with the one nav item I'd cut first on your site. Replying to every comment today, no catch.

San Antonio Restaurant Week starts TODAY and I have a 60-second challenge for you. 🍽️

Go Google your favorite SA restaurant right now, the way a total stranger would, and screenshot the very first thing that comes up.

Then come back here and leave ONE word describing what you saw.

Clean? Outdated? Empty? Confusing? Nonexistent?

Because whatever you found in those 60 seconds? That's the exact experience new customers are having before they ever walk through the door.

Restaurant Week is when San Antonio is actively hunting for somewhere new to try. The restaurants that look good on Google get the reservation. The ones that don't, don't.

And yes, this is 100% true for your business too, not just restaurants.

Bonus: tag the SA restaurant you're hitting up this Restaurant Week so we can all see what comes up when we Google them. πŸ‘‡

Texas Tax-Free Weekend is here, and every backpack and pair of sneakers in San Antonio is sales-tax-free through Sunday.

You know what's not on that exempt list? The AC that's been limping along since July. The overdue eye exam. The tutor that needs to get booked before grades slip. The car that needs inspecting before carpool starts back up.

None of that gets a tax break, but all of it is just as urgent on a parent's mental list this exact weekend.

The service businesses that show up clean and easy to book right now get the call. The ones that don't just get scrolled past.

What's the "other list" item people are searching for in YOUR industry this weekend? Comment it below and I'll tell you what I think they're actually Googling to find you.

Okay, I'll say it. A bad website is doing more damage than no website at all.

I was eating a root beer float on my porch last night (August in SA, you know how it is) and this thought would not leave me alone.

No website? Someone calls you directly. Fine.

Bad website? They find it, read it, and quietly decide you're not the one. They never call. You never know.

The sneaky culprits: a footer that says Β© 2016, stock photos of people who have never seen the Riverwalk, and a page that takes forever to load on a phone.

San Antonio business owners, I want your honest vote:

πŸ‘‰ A) No website is better than a bad one
πŸ‘‰ B) Bad website still beats nothing

Comment A or B below. I'm reading every one.

Happy National Night Out, San Antonio. 🏘️

The whole spirit of tonight is neighbors investing in neighbors, and that's exactly what this is.

I'm giving away 3 free Website Neighborhood Reports this week to SA small-business owners who've never gotten a straight answer about how their site actually looks to someone new.

Each one is a real written breakdown covering:. How your site reads to a cold visitor. Whether your trust signals are pulling their weight. How it looks on a phone. One priority fix, spelled out clearly

No pitch at the end. Just honest, useful feedback.

First 3 San Antonio small-business owners to comment NEIGHBORHOOD below get one. I'll follow up by tomorrow to grab your site URL and zip code.

Tag a neighbor who needs this. πŸ‘‡

πŸŽ’ It's back-to-school season and parents all over San Antonio are searching on their phones WHILE they're out running errands. School-supply runs, pickup lines, waiting at the pediatrician.

Is your website ready for that moment?

This is The Tuesday Tune-Up, a quick weekly checklist for your business website. Tonight's audit: mobile experience in 6 steps.

1. Load your site on your phone. Clock it.
2. Tap every button. Do they work?
3. Can you read the text without zooming?
4. Is your phone number one tap to call?
5. Is your address easy to find at the bottom?
6. Try your contact form. Is it fast?

One row on the checklist image below is deliberately wrong. First person to name which row wins a free 15-minute website strategy call with me.

What neighborhood are you in? Drop it below. I'll tell you if I've seen your site come up in local searches. πŸ‘‡

Unpopular opinion incoming. Your website matters more than your social media.

I know. I know. But stay with me for a second.

Social media gets people curious about you. Your website is where they go to decide if they trust you enough to spend money. Those are two completely different jobs.

I've seen San Antonio business owners. Great people, talented at what they do. Lose customers not because their Instagram wasn't active, but because their website looked abandoned. Someone clicked over, saw a site from 2018 with a broken contact form, and just.. left.

Your website doesn't have an algorithm working against you. It doesn't disappear when a platform changes its rules. It's yours, and it works even when you're closed.

Social = the invitation. Website = the room. Make sure the room is worth walking into.

Agree or disagree? I want to hear it. One word works fine. πŸ‘‡

If Instagram went down this Saturday, could you still reach your customers?

Not a hypothetical. Meta has pulled Facebook and Instagram offline for hours at a time, with no warning.

For a lot of San Antonio business owners the honest answer is no, and that's the whole problem. The audience you built lives on somebody else's platform. They set the rules, they control who sees you, and they can change both overnight.

A website and an email list are yours. Nobody can throttle them. Nobody charges you to reach people who already said they want to hear from you.

Social is still worth doing. It just shouldn't be the only way in.

Okay, honest opinion, which would you rather have for YOUR business right now:

πŸ‘‰ A) 10,000 Instagram followers
πŸ‘‰ B) 500 email subscribers

Comment A or B and tell me why. No wrong answer, I genuinely want to see where San Antonio business owners land on this.
