📝 Grant Writing Tip of the Week: Write for the Skim! 📝
Ever wonder what happens after you hit "Submit" on a grant application?

Grant reviewers are often reading dozens of applications back-to-back. They are tired, pressed for time, and looking for reasons to fund you—but you have to make it easy for them to find those reasons!

If your proposal is a massive wall of dense text, the impact of your message can get lost. To stand out, you need to write for the skim.

Here is how to make your next grant proposal visually irresistible and easy to digest:

Use Bold Headers: Break your narrative into clear sections that mirror the funder’s scoring criteria. If they ask about "Community Impact," have a bold section titled Community Impact.

Embrace Bullet Points: Instead of listing five major accomplishments in one long sentence, break them into a clean, bulleted list. It draws the eye right to your wins.

Keep Paragraphs Short: Aim for no more than 3–4 sentences per paragraph. White space on a page is a reviewer's best friend!

Front-Load the Facts: Put your most compelling data and the "so what?" at the very beginning of your paragraphs, not buried at the end.
