I’ve been having fun helping other (more talented) packaging designers concept their ideas in 3D. I take what they need and build a fully customizable photoshop file equipped with smart objects that they can update themselves. Anything from the color of the package to the brightness of the specular hits. Packaging renders are always fun to work on. I love working with designers to get the exact angle and lighting they’re looking for on their design. With content and imagery to fit, it becomes a puzzle to solve to make sure everything legible. For this particular project I also had to submit countless reviews to external Disney partners for approvals on texturing of the character. After the long process, we finally arrived on these sexy renders ready for print.

I do a lot of product renders these days so it’s important that I keep up to date with my texturing and lighting skills in 3D. When I do this, I think of random objects to build and just focus on the type of material I’m trying to create and how that interacts with environment and lighting. These are a few experiments I’ve done using and working toward creating good reflections and bumps. Time to play keeps me motivated to learn more. Keep pushing. Keep growing!!

Helping a small California based company reimagine the branding standards they currently have as they prepare for an entire new line of products next year. It's fun to experiment with new colors and textures. Helping clients see bigger picture ideas is one of my favorite parts of my process. It's easy to explain things in words but it's much more effective to show real world examples of how their brand will be seen. More work on this project to come in 2020. Stay tuned for marketing materials and packaging designs!
