I remember when I first saw this quote. It came from a photo taken at a Black Lives Matter walk. Let it sink in. How do you notice your privilege right now?

We are so excited to be sharing Mariana and Ramata’s story with you all.

Ramata was born with cleft lip and cleft palate. Mariana, her mother, would save for months to be able to travel the hundreds of miles from her home in a rural community to the coast to seek the doctors that could help Ramata. She was turned away over and over again because of Ramata’s health and because of her inability to pay for the surgery.

Eventually Ramata and Mariana were able to partner with - who helped Ramata get healthy enough to receive the surgery that would eventually repair her lip.

Through Operation Smile's work around the world, their team meets many amazing mothers like Mariana who stop at nothing to get their child the surgery they need. Mariana, of Ghana, is one of these mothers. Those mothers who fight and love fiercely for their children are everywhere. We plan to celebrate all of them this Sunday.

We just delivered the first edit of a new film for and are feeling pretty excited by it. Quite similarly to how we felt this day when we were filming with the team in Ghana.

Our friends over at are meeting with families right now to help plan for a trip to Malawi early next year. It will be our fifth year traveling with this crew, and it is truly is a gift to document what all is possible within the communities they work alongside.
