I'm not a fan of most networking events or ice breaker activities. While most don't believe it, I am a natural introvert - I'd rather people watch than insert myself into a group of people who are already interacting. I don't like joining a table that's already got people at it, but I'm happy to invite people to join me at my table at these events. To me, this all just feels forced and unnatural.
So, in case you missed it, here's an article from a past Exhibitor Magazine that might give you some food for thought if you're planning an event and don't want the "traditional" networking cocktail party or worn-out ice breaker activity: https://www.exhibitoronline.com/topics/article.asp?ID=3746
If the only thing keeping your networking event lively is an open bar, it's time to sober up.
