There’s been a lot of talk lately about fake influencers, bought followers, bought likes, spam comments, loop giveaways, likes for likes, follows for follows, mass following-unfollowing, and other dishonest (or at least, questionable) ways of growing your audience. People who don’t use these methods have reached out to me in desperation, saying, “How do I keep up?” My advice: stop trying. This isn’t a contest where the most popular person wins. It’s a place where you show who you are, and others do, too. If lots of people like that, great. If they don’t, SO WHAT? You are just fine, as you are. Know that, and you can move forward with confidence. The “winners” aren’t really winning. And dirty tricks are starting to be found out. Be authentically yourself, and happy with your numbers, and you will earn every follow. If you tried a scam and polluted your following, own it and clean it up. Remember what Mark Twain said, “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” Contact us if you're an optical business who fell into this trap and you need help.
