June Chepkemei is a dynamic leader in positioning Kenya as a premier global tourist destination through initiatives like "Tembea Kenya," the "One Kenyan in Diaspora, One Tourist" program, and a Digital Nomad Visa. Before her current role, June was the Managing Director at Kenya Investment Authority (KENINVEST), where she developed an investor journey, hosted the 3rd Kenya International Investment Conference, and contributed to a draft investment promotion law. She served as Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications at Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA), leading the Konza Innovation Ecosystem Initiative and coordinating the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) project. June also worked at Safaricom Limited as a Communications Business Partner and has been recognized among the Top 25 Women in Digital 2021. She holds a Master’s in Communications Studies from Moi University, a Bachelor’s in PR & Communications, a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Marketing from CIM, UK, and is pursuing a PhD in Information Science. She successfully led Kenya's bid to host the 41st IASP World Conference 2024

Today, we mark the launch of a campaign that takes Kenya's domestic tourism effort in a new direction.

For years, Kenya's domestic tourism has been shaped by strong destination marketing, compelling stories, and national pride. The effort has been further sustained through campaigns like Tembea Kenya - Hapa ni Wapi, which has been inviting Kenyans to rediscover the country they call home.

However, inspiring Kenyans to see their own country is only half the job. Getting them to actually book the trip is the other half.

The Tembea Kenya – Hapa Ni Wapi Sales Conversion Campaign is our response to that. We have worked with the travel trade to put together packages that are affordable, clearly priced, and available to book right now.

The Sovereign Wealth Fund Bill, seeks to establish a legal framework to help Kenya manage today's resources while securing tomorrow's prosperity.

Key Highlights:
Economic Stability- Creates a stabilization fund to cushion the country against unexpected economic shocks such as pandemics, global conflicts, or commodity price fluctuations.

Infrastructure Development – Establishes a Strategic Infrastructure Investment Fund to finance transformative national projects and attract private sector investment.

Future Generations – Creates a dedicated savings fund to ensure that wealth generated from Kenya's mineral and petroleum resources benefits both current and future generations, in line with Article 201(c) of the Constitution.

Guaranteed Savings – The Bill proposes that 30% of all mineral and petroleum revenues be allocated to the Future Generations Fund, building a long-term national endowment after natural resources are depleted.

A Sovereign Wealth Fund is a strategic investment in Kenya's economic resilience, sustainable development, and intergenerational equity.

Life has a remarkable way of coming full circle.

Many years ago, our then CEO, Julius Lamaon,called me at 2:00 a.m. with the sad news of our colleague Tamorongyot's passing. He entrusted me with the difficult task of ensuring his family received the news respectfully through the area Chief.

Last year, standing beside the same CEO in Tinderet, I had the privilege of sharing very different news. Tamo's son, Kelvin Kiplangat Yego, had secured a full sponsorship to support his relocation to the UAE in search of greener pastures, courtesy of FEMANI TRAVELS Thanks to Chebet Comedian and his amazing team. Today, Kelvin has received his employment visa and is scheduled to travel to Dubai soon.

From delivering heartbreaking news to delivering life-changing news, what a full-circle moment. I am happy to share that, indeed, he has gotten a job in the UAE.
