Been reading a lot about choosing clothing that will last, and the repercussions of purchasing fast fashion.
I’m sure, by now, you’ve heard of “sustainable fashion” — especially during these times, there’s been a major shift towards more sustainable behavior. But what is it actually? For me, it’s making an effort to purchase items that will last longer than cheaper alternatives or shopping secondhand. I like clothing made with natural fibers that give really good value for money spent. and they honestly don’t even need to be full-on designer - mid-tier brands like , , and are great places to find pieces that are meant to last.
On the other hand, fast fashion defines any clothing made with synthetic fibers that fall apart easily so you’ll have to replace it often. Ever wonder why a shirt falls apart after just a couple of wears? Or what happens to clothing when you toss it after a couple of wears?
I know it’s hard to avoid sticker shock when investing in more expensive pieces, but imagine the money you spend on items that don’t last. Most of the items I buy have resale value and I’m never disappointed in the quality and fit - that’s worth it for me!
